We’re excited to premiere “I’ll Be Gone” by Pennsylvania-based folk/rock band Dogs Run Free. The song is from their upcoming debut album To The Travelers We Might Find and it showcases the band’s down-to-earth charm & genuine songwriting skill.
Lead singer Kevin Iobst said of the song: “It’s a song that says farewell. I think it’s a bit resentful, but also a bit positive. It says we’re moving on, going on our own journeys.”

Pennsylvania-based soaring soul-rock sextet, Dogs Run Free have recently announced the release of their debut LP To The Travelers We Might Find following a busy summer of touring. The band’s lead single “I’ll Be Gone” premiered on the taste-making “Out of the Box” program on Clear Channel’s Q104.3 in New York, slotted next to Jack White’s “High Ball Stepper” and Band Of Skulls’ “Asleep At The Wheel,” marking Dogs Run Free as a band to watch.
Glide Magazine is proud to premiere their newest track “Tied Up” (streaming below), a feel good rocker that combines southern charm but enough folk sensibility to fit easily on playlists next to The Head and the Heart and The Avett Brothers. Lead vocalist Kevin Iobst has the following to say about the track – “It was one of those nights I sat outside with my nylon string guitar and wrote a few songs. I immediately pictured it being played on a ukelele . Lyrically, It was a lot of fun to write. it’s a story about a guy trying to persuade a girl out of a bad relationship.”
With roots extending back to March of 2012, Iobst (lead vocals, guitars, harmonica), Matt Sweitzer (keys) and his cousin Jeff Hanni (lead guitar) realized their natural chemistry as Matt’s brother Mike Sweitzer (bass), Ariel Merkt (vocals, percussion) and Scott Westgate (drums) joined the band. The lineup now complete, Dogs Run Free established their warm, expansive tone. - Glide Magazine

Bio
Dogs Run Free isnt just a band - its a family, its a gathering, its a result of strange coincidences, and a journey.
Dogs Run Free is a 6-piece rock band with roots in soul, folk, and blues. They
formed in 2012 when Jeff Hanni (guitar); Kevin Iobst
(singer/songwriter) and Matt Sweitzer (keys/organ) got together with a
mutual desire to create meaningful, foot-stomping music. Chemistry was
immediate and the guys sought to round out the group. They approached Ariel Merkt to provide backing vocals and
rhythm as well as Michael Sweitzer to take on bass. Scott Westgate
joined soon thereafter to complete the band on drums.
Humble starts in taverns and pubs allowed the band to hone their skills, refine
their sound, and bring their music to a wider audience. They spent the
last year recording their debut album consisting of 11 tracks ranging
from soulful ballads to unyielding rock n roll songs.
Influences of the band include Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band, She and
Him, Sly and the Family Stone, David Bowie, Portugal. The Man, and
Kimbra.
