Bio

Since 1978 DOC SCANLON'S RHYTHM BOYS have rocked the capitals of the world from Albany, New York to St. Petersburg, Russia with an exciting blend of Big Band Swing and Rockin' Rhythm & Blues. Style and showmanship has made the Rhythm Boys a popular concert and club attraction both on their own and in appearances with such performers as B.B. King, Asleep at the Wheel and the Count Basie Orchestra. Audiences can't resist tunes by Louis Prima, Ray Charles, Glenn Miller, The Temptations, Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry, and Brian Setzer - put a dance floor in front of this band and flying feet fill it!

The Rhythm Boys' signature sound is based on the hot horn section of Riff Baxter's trumpet, Professor Paul's tenor sax, backed by the tight rhythms supplied by Don Young on guitar, Gene Garone on drums and Reggie "Doc" Scanlon on bass. Cliff Lyons often adds his sizzling sax solos to make for a killer three-horn section. All the band members share smooth lead and harmony vocals on swinging jazz, raging rock and motivatin' Motown which culminate in a powerful, punchy big sound - the biggest sound you've ever heard from a small combo.

The coming season promises a variety of concert, club and private function performances up and down the East Coast. Bigger, better and badder than ever, the band never fails to make excitement happen!

A special attraction this year will be the magical, magnificent vocal stylings of songbird Colleen Pratt who will join the band on most occasions.
