DIVE ALARM was first conceived in 2007 while Erik Sperl (vocals, bass guitar) and Nick Zambrotta (saxophones) played in an ensemble at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. After graduation, the two worked on other projects, but the idea of a new band, representative of their musical influences, was never far from their minds.
In the fall of 2009, Erik and Nick began collaborating with other musicians in and around Newport. Their early efforts focused on writing original songs, and developing their own unique blend of pop/rock, inspired by artists such as, Death Cab For Cutie, Dave Mathews Band, Maroon 5, and Coldplay.
DIVE ALARM premiered as a band in April 2010, playing their first show at Salve Regina’s Hearts For Haiti Tent City Benefit. Since then, they have continued to perform locally, while remaining focused on developing new material.
In the fall of 2010, the band welcomed two new members: Steve Boreen (guitar, vocals) and DJ Cordeiro (drums). With these new additions, DIVE ALARM has become a dynamic and energetic band, passionate about creating and performing original music.
Currently, DIVE ALARM is focused on building a fan base, supporting their first EP (released Jan. 2011), and performing throughout New England.
