Dirty Bird, the first opening act, took the stage at 1 p.m. before a meager standing audience and a scattering of turf-top loungers.
The quartet ran through a set of earnest indie-rock with spectacular result. Frontman Alex DeSimine’s mellow, heartfelt vocal and emphatic accompaniment on acoustic guitar meshed seamlessly with Asher Bank’s driving drum work and Zach Moses’s electric lead ornaments. The pulse of the band, however, emanated from bass player Alex Tremitiere, whose dynamic lines and back-up vocal seemed to dictate the energy of the performance. The crowd responded with hearty applause, and Dirty Bird left the stage in triumph.
Such success of a relatively unheard of band proved that performers don’t necessarily need a big name to enact a successful performance. The opening act could not have been more appropriate for the time and place, and the stage was well-set for Jay Sean - The Observer

New York City is filled, primarily, with to types of musician. Those striving and pushing to take their field to the next level of creative innovation and those who attempt to revive traditional timbres with little success. Dirty Bird is one of the few succeeding in the latter grouping. The loving tones and graceful turn-arounds, as their page suggests, really do create cravings for warm apple pie topped with cold vanilla ice cream. - Dingus

Why should Dirty Bird be your favorite band?
There are plenty of answers to that question, but before we get there, let's start with something even more basic - why should you listen to music?
The answer to that is much easier said than done. Music - good music, that is - can capture feelings that words cannot. Music is a supreme expression, a sublimation of all the indescribable emotions that flow through the human body.
Even a child too young to say "happy" can dance and clap along to a cheery song.
Dirty Bird turns the unspeakable into musical reality.
Dirty Bird can connect with your most thoughtful moods in one moment and have you dancing and sweating up a storm in the next. That, my friends, is not easy to come by.
Dirty Bird is an indie rock band with music soaked in harmonies and hooks galore. The band is comprised of four stellar musicians who have collectively played across the globe at some famous places - the Forum in London, the Trocadero in Philadelphia, and the Zappanale Festival in Germany, to name a few - and have shared the stage with some big names, including Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, John Wetton of King Crimson, the Butthole Surfers, Jon Anderson of Yes, and Brendon Small of Metalocalypse. We've played countless shows in front of full audiences, and now as Dirty Bird, we are road-tested and ready.
Music is an instinct for us: Alex DeSimine on lead vocals, guitar, piano; Alex Tremitiere on vocals and bass; Zach Moses on vocals and lead guitar; and Asher Bank on drums and percussion.
With our fast-paced, energized live shows and our fresh, original songwriting, Dirty Bird is rising - and fast.
