"For five days hip-hop fans boarded shuttle buses that stopped in five Atlanta neighborhoods: its urban downtown, a spruced-up Midtown, the colorful Little Five Points, the almost-restored Old Fourth Ward and the slightly grungy East Atlanta Village. Altogether, the ninth annual A3C Festival, which took place from October 2–6, had spilled into 25 different locales to host nearly 500 rap acts—veteran and rookie, signed and unsigned, of crates and LiveMixtapes descent—with about 35,000 people estimated to attend."

"I’m lugubrious because I’m from a place where niggas always shootin’ shit and never on no Buddha shit,” Curry raps on “N64”, a line so inventive you almost miss its heart. Mostly, though, it’s tough to miss this album’s heart." - Consequence of Sound
"As far as debut albums go, Nostalgic 64 is a massive success. There's plenty of room to grow here, but the album is incredibly consistent and impressive. Denzel Curry has proven that he doesn't need his Raider Klan ties to flourish on his own, though the SpaceGhostPurrp influence is evident here. " - Absolute Punk

"South Florida rapper Denzel Curry assembles a somewhat grim hip hop album with his latest project, Nostalgic 64." - The Needle Drop
"With all of the drama and negative light being shone on South Florida, Denzel Curry is the loudest voice to bring the perspective of the youth to the people." - Potholes In My Blog
"There is a palpable and prominent darkness to Denzel’s music, but Nostalgic 64 defies that summation of his music in the most productive way possible: through balance." - Wax Poetics

"Denzel Curry is not only among the newest artists of the area, but probably the youngest. How many artists can you name that have just graduated high school, performed at Coachella, and have been interviewed by MTV’s Sway!? Exactly. Not to mention, he also creates the dope artwork himself on his projects!" - Ashley Outrageous

"Purrp hit me up. He didn't call me, he hit me up on Twitter, because everybody thought he kicked me out, and he didn't," Curry recalls. "I'm just addressing this now. He didn't kick me out. I chose to leave. But I wasn't going to let this rap shit or this contract shit come in between friends, because this is somebody who helped me out in the beginning." - Village Voice
"At only 18 years old, the “Threatz” rapper has grabbed the attention of SpaceGhostPurrp, been featured on MTV’s RapFix, and performed at Coachella, all while finishing up his senior year of high school. We spoke with Curry about achieving success at such a young age, his relationship with SpaceGhostPurrp, his forthcoming mixtape, and more." - Green Label Sound
"Recently appearing on MTV and at Coachella, as well as garnering over 750,000 YouTube views of his hit video “Threatz,” Denzel Curry has South Florida in his corner. " - XXL

The hype is real, Denzel Curry is to rap what Ken Griffey Jr. was to Major League Baseball in 1989. We’re all about to witness greatness.

On Wednesday's (Mach 27) episode of "RapFix Live" Carol City, Florida rapper Denzel Curry had a chance to "Get in the Game" with his video "Threatz" featuring Yung Simmie and Robb Banks. Both Kid Capri and Waka Flocka gave him some constructive feedback on the track and Waka liked it so much that he even offered to hop a remix to the track. For an outsider or even an insider it's hard to decode exactly what the Raider Klan represents. Recently, SpaceGhostPurrp made news by taking to Facebook to hint a possible retirement. Tonight SGP took to Facebook again to put the retirement rumors to rest. Klan member Denzel Curry also dropped a new video that may put some context to the group. If anything, it may add more mystique to the already confusing yet intriguing Raider Klan. Watch the video for "The LVND" above. - Complex Magazine
If you don’t know, now you know: Raider Klan ain’t takin kindly to any threats. So says Denzel AK Curry and his fellow Raider Klan members Yung Simmie and Robb Bank$ on their new track, “No Threatz”. The dark, infectious, loop featured on the song sounds like nothing short of a Ronny J masterpiece, and hopefully the young producer will act as the main beat contributor to Curry’s upcoming mixtape Nostalgic 64. So far, “Threatz” will definitely appear on the mixtape as will ”Dark and Violent”, the deadly cut that emerged from Curry in November. If anything, the two releases have proved that Curry is that new fire, and everyone should be on the lookout for the Nostalgic 64 drop. - Respect Magazine
I first heard Denzel Aquarius Killa Curry a.k.a Raven Miyagi on Metro Zu’s “Mink Rug” tape on the track “Pantheon” where he raps superfast over a slow, wavy beat. His verse on that track really stood out to me as well as he guest appearances on Mike Dece and Ruben Slikk’s “Proper Boyz” mixtape.
Then, I checked out Denzel’s King Of The Mysterious South mixtape which is a super raw collection of dark, intense songs especially the murder anthem “Headcrack” which is one of my favorite Raider Klan tracks still. I talked with Denzel via phone about martial arts, Outkast, Orange Juice and more…

For this edition of The Backdrop, we took a trip down to Art Basel in Miami to talk to a wealth of members of Miami's hip-hop scene, from Denzel Curry and Lofty305, respectively of the buzzing rap crews Raider Klan and Metro Zu, as well as Afrobeta, TM Sisters and O'Grime. Built upon the thundering bass of 2 Live Crew, Miami's hip-hop scene sees firsthand the intersections of hip-hop and electronic music throughout the two genres' history. In conjunction with Gentleman Jack's Art, Beats & Lyrics event series, we took a look at this crucial moment in the city's musical history. - Noisey: Music By Vice

Straight from the depths of Blackland Carol City (Zone 3 to be exact), Denzel "Aquarius'Killa" Curry sometimes known as "Raven Miyagi" emerged on the underground hip hop scene with a vintage sound similar to the Memphis's underground scene of the early/mid 90's. A former member of Spaceghost Purrp's Raider Klan Collective the young emcee picked up the pen at age 12 making Music, Art (Denzel attended Design & Architecture High his first two years of High School. He designs all of his own artwork), & studying Martial Arts his hobbies as a kid. He started taking music seriously at age 16 releasing his first mix tape & Building his following online. His Feature on fellow underground artist Lil Ugly Mane's "Twistin" catapulted him into the spotlight shortly after, being featured on BBC Radio overseas. After releasing 3 successful lo fi mix tapes and building a following, Record deal or not Denzel set out to work on his first album leaving lo fi in the past. In November of 2012 while still in High school he released the albums first street single in "Dark & Violent" which started to get him critical praise for his storytelling skills at the tender age of 17. Shortly after Denzel released the followup/lead single in "Threatz" & went on to shoot a video for it, The video landed on MTV and aired on National television via Rap Fix with Sway Calloway, even impressing Waka Flocka who was named checked in the song. The following month Denzel performed live with Raider Klan at Coachella, and made his second television appearance via AXS LIVE performing new single "N64" in where he spoke out about the Trayvon Martin Murder & violence in south Florida. From headlining Miami's First Boiler Room, to doing shows across the country (all while finishing up high school), to releasing his debut album Nostalgic 64 independently and receiving great reviews Denzel is on a mission to insure that traditional southern hip hop never dies and lyricism is brought back to the forefront of Hip Hop.
