Bio
As a founding member of Canadian indie rock outfit Mother Mother, Debra Jean Creelman was afforded ample opportunities to learn about the stage, the studio, and the road. During her four years with the fast rising and hard working band she played countless festivals, and showcases including: CMJ, SXSW, Virgin Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, CMW, and NXNE. As well as opening for the likes of Patrick Watson, Spoon, Okkervil River, and more, Creelman’s time with Mother Mother saw her headline such historic rooms as Vancouver’s Richards on Richards and Toronto’s Lee’s Palace.
In addition to two full length Mother Mother albums released on Last Gang Records, Debra-Jean’s vocals can be found on the records of a slew of Canadian Artists including: Frazey Ford, The Wooden Sky, Josh Martinez, and many others.
In November 2008 Debra Jean left Mother Mother in order to pursue her own solo career. Soon after she began the hunt for a band to play her music. Still on the search in the summer of 2009, she dared to brave one of the dirtiest jam spaces in Vancouver, belonging to good friends and punk/math rock hard hitters, Cortez the Killer. A year and a half, a serious injury, an EP, a radio contest, and some awesome shows later, the band has become a tight-knit family and a solid songwriting unit. They are currently hard at work on a full-length album.
