Writing music reviews are fun. Writing good ones are even "funner," and writing bad reviews are "harderer." Darren Frank is a "fun-ner-er" review to write because he makes our ears float. - Jake Flemming, Street Blast Radio
Coal to Diamond is an apt name, with Frank's experiences being the coal while the polish on this more than capable pop-songwriter record is the gemstone. 4/5 - Fish Griwkowski, Edmonton Sun

'I wanted that rustic feel and just to be out away from the city, start from a clean palette with lots of wide open spaces,' he says.
With Coal to Diamond out of his system, Frank is once again doing the opposite. He's now playing with a group of musicians and writing songs of a less personal nature. - Sandra Sperounes, Edmonton Journal

Bio
With a sound once described as 'built of both stone and light,' Darren Frank has discovered his voice, so soulful and inviting, you may just want to spend the night. His gift for melody is buoyed by warm, discerning arrangements and a refreshingly assured delivery. These are psych-soul-hymns, and he wants to share them with you.
Things started in 2008, with the release of the Coal To Diamond EP, an eclectic and engaging affair which received some nice reviews and put Frank on the radar.
March 2010 saw the completion of his first full length album entitled That Lived-In Look. Recorded at the Physics Lab (Edmonton AB) with engineer/producer Terry Paholek, this bold and diverse project was Frank's inevitable next step towards making more music.
A few years ago, he took some time away from his own project to join the group Yes Nice as guitarist. In 2013, the band made a fine record, Warm Gun, and toured across the country in support playing festivals such as Squamish Live (Squamish BC) and Folk on the Rocks (Yellowknife NWT).
Frank is currently at work on a project that will soon see the first release of a series of A/B side singles. It will be called In Two.
Darren has been asked to share the stage with Chad VanGaalen, Frank Black, Destroyer, Brett Dennen, Adrian Belew and has showcased at such festivals as Sled Island (Calgary AB), New Music West, WCMA's, and CMW (Toronto ON).
