“Walker has a great voice, easy-going stage presence, and his acoustic slide guitar work is first rate.”
Steve Watkins - Fort Worth Star Telegram - FW Weekly
Daniel's former band, Mellowship, was featured as band "On the Verge" in Relix Magazine in July 2003. This is a rare Relix issue because the cover featured the Lollapalooza that never happened due to poor ticket sales. The article mentioned Mellowship's "catchy melodies, and superb guitar work"
- Relix Magazine
Daniel Lawrence Walker stopped by my place on Election Day morning to play guitar and discuss music and upcoming shows. Dan's fingers were constantly plucking and strumming his guitar during the conversation, and the delicate melodies accompanied our discussion. Dan Walker loves the open community of the Denver music scene, and that is why he is constantly playing with a rotating set of musicians. "It's always in flux. I enjoy playing with a lot of different musicians, and I get a lot of different ideas and songs can go in different directions," said Dan whil strumming. "I think it's amazing that there is such a variety of scenes here in town. There's a huge audience for a lot of different genres - a large Hip Hop scene, a thriving jam-band scene, and the singer/songwriter scene has rown since I've been here in the last two and a half years."
In what genre would Walker place himself? His fingers stopped moving s he looked up from the guitar. "I've been thinking about that. I play Blues that incorporates Funk and Americana at the same time. I concentrate on the songs, the songwriting, and the lyrics. I do my own thing without worrying about who I am presenting it to or what venue I'm playing for... I try to not go for one particular audience in Denver."

Bio
More than just a man and his guitar, Walker writes songs of love and life - with compelling themes and stories wrapped around flowing progressions. Weaving intelligent lyrics through seamless rhythms comes naturally for this singer/songwriter who pens songs with depth, emotion, and honest feelings with which many different audiences can connect.
With every step along his path, this Texas native has picked up a new flavor for his music. While attending college in New Orleans, he picked up the funk and zest for life that inevitably seeps into the souls of those who live there. He pulls a slice of Americana from his childhood and playing his first live shows in Fort Worth, Texas. With a move to Denver in 2004, one can hear a new expansive sound work in its way into Walker's songwriting.
The songs are just one aspect of Walker's talent. Playing both solo and with a band presents different platforms for Walker to showcase his many abilities. When taking the stage with a rotating cast of musicians. Daniel's music is infused with contagious improvisational energy. When sharing the stage with only his guitar, Walker plays on a loop he creates on-the-spot and builds around percolating acoustic guitar rhythms, playing slide guitar over the top.
His hard work as a musician was rewarded when he won the Acoustic Blues Competition at the 2004 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. He has made return performances every year from 2005 to the present. Most recently, Daniel has been invited to join Oakhurst on the road this Spring, and is contributing to their upcoming album.
