Cullen Miller has laid down seven songs, playing all of the instruments himself. Fortunately, he is a shrewd pop songwriter. Unfortunately, the presentation of the songs makes them feel like demos, as opposed to a definitive debut. The indie-pop melodies, jangly guitars and bloop-bleep keyboards remind me of college radio indie-rockers from the 90's like Nada Surf, Death Cab for Cutie and even Atom and his Package. Miller's songs have an innocent charm and un-sarcastic sentiment that make them endearing. Real drums, more refined vocal performances and nuanced mixes would take these songs from charming to quite special. - Fly Magazine

Bio
Singer/Songwriter Cullen Miller’s music is transcending genre. On his freshman release he seamlessly blends rich, textured musical compositions with solid, pop song structures and catchy hooks. His honest, emotional lyrics and soulful, vocal melodies are ever so delicately supported by energetic, alternative/rock instrumentation. Cullen is a versatile kind of artist that has the uncanny ability to sing as well as play guitar, keyboards and percussion. He recently released his first solo album in December of 2009, a self-titled EP containing seven original, beautifully orchestrated pop songs that he feels best showcase his talent. The songs on the album were written by him; he performed all of the instruments on it and it was produced, engineered and mastered all by Cullen himself in his home studio.
Cullen was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He began developing his ear with his first piano lessons at age six and then continued to cultivate his musical talents with additional training on guitar, percussion and voice. In his teenage years, Cullen spent his time as a drummer and co-songwriter for the band SunDown. In 2005, Cullen began writing songs for himself and recording them using nothing but a tape player and his roomate’s harmonica microphone. He further cultivated his songwriting craft when he acquired his first recording machine, a 4-track recorder and signed up for his first singing lessons. It was around this time that he started to take himself seriously as a singer and songwriter and started to believe he could sing his own songs. He took his first singing lessons through ‘06 and, in ‘07, put his songs to the test and created his first very own rock group, StereoBlind for which he was front man and eventually shared front man duties with singer and longtime friend Andy Metz. The band never released an album and only played two shows until 2008, when StereoBlind had to disintegrate after Cullen moved to the west coast to live with his then girlfriend. Now, after a year, Cullen is back in Lancaster and, at the ripe age of 25, continues to live out his dream as a working musician, all the meanwhile helping out the revitalization of independent art in his hometown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He continues to play solo acoustic shows as well as shows with longtime bassist Johnny Resch. They also play electric, rock shows with their new drummer Mike Long.
His performances include sets at: The Lanc-a-Dank Music and Arts Festival, First Friday and Music Friday events as well as shows at the Chameleon Club and the Prince Street Café.
