« It is rare for a french duo to get this close to that absolute sound of
american folk. CrossFire masters all its subtleties in the tiniest details, with
violins reminding us of remote corners of Kentucky, bottlenecks and two
voices that everything opposes but also always pull towards each other… » - Rolling Stone France
« Although it presents itself as a septet, CrossFire is originally a duo
formed, since 2015, by a British singer with a clear and refined voice and a
french guitarist who, with his complementary voice sings often in harmony
with her. The first album recorded in Normandy explores the ways of a folk
music both acoustic and electric and that is an ode to travel. It manages often
to fly away to the great outdoors thanks to its vocal and melodic impact,
through eleven originals and a convincing cover of « Masters Of War » by
Bob Dylan. » - Rock&Folk (France)
« …The cover version of 'Masters Of War' makes Bob Dylan, the author of
the song, look rather old in singing, which on the one hand is not a feat but on
the other hand testifies to the self-confidence and maturity of the duo. In the
same way, it rejects the egocentricity that is particularly prevalent in this
genre and rather proves a keen sense of observation when it relates to the
tragic fate of the indigenous people of the USA and Canada ('Buffalo'); The
touching 'Empty Minds & Prayers' with opulent choir (the 'Choir of Peace', as
the core duo calls him) is also reminiscent of the terrorist attack at the
Parisian music club Bataclan.
"Drifting Ashore" is simply a collection of more subdued sounds, in whose
calm (as so often) the power lies.
CONCLUSION: Stylistically, the first CROSSFIRE album moves in
manageable tracks, but the authentically rooted style of the septet not only
does not close to its origin France, but catapulted "Drifting Ashore" seemingly
effortlessly from the start into the front third of the current publications in
acoustics , Folk and singer-songwriter section. (…) » - Muzik Reviews (Germany)
« Just beautiful!
(…) But it's not just the superficially accessible sound that shimmers through
"Drifting Ashore"; CROSSFIRE goes into the depths, conjures up beautiful
melodies, which are nevertheless characterized by a constant change of
mood, creates contemplative moments with lasting effects, but remains at all
times very close to the conventional songwriting and creates the peculiarities
over the really fantastic alternating song and the subtle, minimalist harmonies
that are the salt in all twelve pieces of "Drifting Ashore".
But the special power emanating from the vocal performance is also not to be
underestimated. The cover version of Bob Dylan's 'Masters Of War', for
example, surpasses the original by a long shot (…)
This album is a goosebumping affair that will reverberate for a very long time
and that you just can not get enough of in the first few passes. (…) » - Power Metal (Germany)
« The texts refer to travel, exploration and the universe, and also concerns
the problems of minorities and racial segregation. "Drifting Ashore" is also a
story about love, disappointments and pains, as well as about finding an
elusive ideal in life.
This disc should please Mark Knopfler but especially fans of artists such as
Bob Dylan. » - Rock Area (Poland)
“Everything fits together perfectly, a good album, heavily played songs and
two beautiful voices make for a little fifty minutes of intimate listening
pleasure.” - Rock Portaal (Netherland)
« The album has an exquisite sound that allows us to listen with intensity to
every strumming of the guitar and every vocal melody, without forgetting the
depth of the atmosphere that runs one by one all the songs of "Drifting
Ashore". A work very influenced by the American spirit and with a message
that tries to eliminate the barriers between cultures and peoples. (…) In
addition to a beautiful presentation and impeccable sound "Drifting Ashore"
has a large collection of songs that recall the best of Folk, Rock and Blues to
the American, leaving moments of great beauty, melody and a point of
melancholy of the most addictive. » - NOIZZ (Spain)
« Twelve tracks and twelve different stories. Drifting Ashore by Crossfire has
become a record that shows that the power of polyphony and of combining
many styles can lead to a sublime result. » - White Room (Netherland)
« A band that bears the name of our webzine, can actually only be good
right? But that they could be this gigantic, I would not have expected. Right
at the beginning, it gives me goose bumps… the bony guitar has something
of Johnny Cash's American Recordings. (…) All around a successful
masterpiece of folk rock and blues. » - Crossfire Webzine (Germany)
"Classy and definitely recommended." - Guitar Part (France)

Bio
It has often been said that these two artists’ voices blend together so perfectly they almost become one.
Following in the footsteps of the greats that came before, Allison and Stephen are carrying on this tradition of singer-songwriter harmony in life as well as on stage.
Feeding their creativity on the likes of Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham, Robert Plant & Allison Kraus, Simon & Garfunkel, and Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell to name a few, they crafted an unmistakable sound that is entwined to that of their two acoustic guitars, faithful companions on their journey around the world.
