Confessions Of A Corn Silo – Stretches Of Concrete (Corn Silo Productions)
Matt Reischling’s second record under the Confessions of A Corn Silo moniker continues his slightly wonky approach to post-Pavement alt. pop. Aided by a group of talented friends, Stretches Of Concrete’s 22 tracks don’t overstay their welcome thanks to the eclectic approach to much of the material and the off-kilter charm with which it’s performed. It might not be to everyone’s liking, but for me there much to enjoy in an album where short instrumental passages vie with Floydian proggy space rock and Neil Young (Jung) inspired alternative, acoustic songs. Perhaps it loses its way a little towards the end, but it’s easy to forgive. There’s vision here. Unfocussed in parts, but vision, nonetheless. If you make it over to their MySpace page, be sure to check out “Useless Space Junk”. It’s my current favourite, and I’m in the mood to share.

Recently one track, "Kid Ghost" off our latest album, Stretches Of Concrete, was played on LA's most respected indie radio station KCRW (www.kcrw.com) by DJ Raul Campos. Additionally, we have licensed 3 songs in the past year, one to an award-winning indie-film called 'Break-Up Bob,' another to a national Fox Sports documentary about the LA Dodgers, and one to an animated commercial for a telecom company (Shentel Communications) that is currently airing right now on the East Coast.
Albums include:
All Things Pink ('08)
Stretches Of Concrete ('10)
Delicious Conditions (work in progress)
Additionally, this past week we signed a contract to license another song, "Fragments To Protect," to an indie film set to be released this summer entitled 'The Lake Effect.'

Bio
Through our ability to quiet a crowd with unique melodic soundscapes and striking lyrical images, we often hear from listeners that our songs linger in their heads long after first listen. The efficiency of our trio, coupled by the unconventional, yet accessible quality of our sound, captivates audiences and keeps them guessing as to what type of song will come next. Acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards old and new, pre-programmed beats, congas and timbales, harmoniums and xylophones, swinging plastic tubes, and a host of other sonic toys add up to a musical vocabulary that is truly one-of-a-kind. In the end, however, it is the dynamic and catchy nature of the songs that sets our band apart. We have been fortunate to have recently licensed 3 songs to various national film/tv projects (credits available) and this past February, we received radio play on KCRW (LA's most respected indie radio station). Lately, we have turned our attention to playing more live in support of our sophomore album, 'Stretches of Concrete.' Our influences include, but are not limited to: Beck, Grandaddy, Sparklehorse, Tom Waits, Bjork, Air, Paolo Conte, Fiona Apple, Ween, Elliott Smith, Erykah Badu, Soda Stereo, Cafe Tacuba, etc. We are always energized and grateful for every opportunity that comes our way and are committed to the 'slow and steady' approach to our career.
