Brief intro of yourself
-Whattup? My name is Collin Gibson; born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; lover of all things art, especially music.
How long have you been rapping?
-I always messed around with putting words together, even as a child. I didn't start taking rapping seriously until my sophomore year of high school. This dude was sitting at the lunch table rapping and I was like "Thats was weak" or something like that. He said I couldn't do better, so that night I went home and wrote some bars. When I came back and spit em, everybody was like "OOOOH! Collin can SPIT!"
When did you realize you loved performing?
I have known that I loved being on stage since I was a child. I started out as a kid with musicals. I believe my first one was Snow White. I was Happy Dwarf. After that I did a few more musicals, then moved on to singing in talent shows, then rapping. I've always felt comfortable on stage.
What was your first performance? What was going through your head as your performed?
Hmm. I honestly can't remember my first performance. As far back as I can think though, my only concern once I get on stage has always been to just have fun. I may be all kinds of nervous before I get up there, but once I have that mic in my hand, I turn into a different person.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound isn't that easy to describe. I guess at the core, its underground/backpack rap, but infused with elements of alternative, rock, pop, and R&B. Let me put it like this: If you took Pharrell, Kanye, Common, Cake, and B.E.P. and swirled em around in a bowl, you might have something that KIND OF resembles my music.
If you had the opportunity to perform a song with anyone, who would you pick and why?
Perform? My mom hands down. She has an AMAZING voice. She sings at Summerfest nearly every year. Even opened for Elton John at the Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary Show. Yea. I'd perform with her!
Who are you musical inspirations?
I love to hear anyone who is experimental with their music, like M.I.A. On the production side, I love Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland. Some artists that I get inspiration from are N.E.R.D., Kanye West, and Lupe Fiasco.
Your album is entitled "10", what is the significance behind the title?
This album was a release from 2010. Last year was undoubtedly the worst year of my life. I put everything that I had into music in 2010. I gave it all of my time and all of my money. Because of that, I lost jobs, vehicles, women, even got evicted. By the time I started writing for this CD, I was sleeping on an air mattress in the middle of my homeboy's unfurnished apartment. He let me stay there while he was out of town on business. The solitude, the time to think, and all of the experiences just led up to me recording the album.
What is your favorite song on the album?
I don't really know which one is my favorite lol. I guess "Fornication" is the most fun to perform, "Greatness" has the hardest bars, and "Till it Hurts" is definitely the sexiest. I can't just pick one lol.
My favorite song is 'Love A Nerd', where did the concept for the song come from?
Well, I always joke around about how I'm the coolest nerd that you know. When you first meet me, you would never know that I skipped 2 grades, speak Arabic fluently, was once addicted to World of Warcraft, and am still obsessed with anything Final Fantasy. You would just think I was a cool ass dude. Im making being a nerd look good lol.
You're currently on the 54 Weeks tour, how is the tour going?
The tour is going great! We are putting this whole thing on ourselves, and learning everyday how to make it better and better. You have to follow our journey to see what Im talking about. www.54weeks.com (sorry but I had to plug that early lol)
What tour dates and locations are still left?
We are currently on the east coast and have booked quite a few shows out here. We are always looking to add to what we have however, and we just started booking the midwest.
Where do yourself as an artist in 5 years?
I have no idea, honestly. Hopefully in a place that allows me to live comfortably off of doing what I love. I don't need a fortune, a mansion, or a Lambo. Just want to be comfortable.
Any new projects in the works?
I am always working. Ill have something fresh for you all within the next few months.

Collin Gibson is another alumni of Tru Skool Tuesday (the Event). Truth be told Collin Gibson was the 1st artist to bring what became our core audience out. Back then he was known as NDB and had a record called "Cuffin". "Cuffin" is a dope chic record. Nothing deep just fun and made girls want to dance. It was a hit record not because he said so or because I said so but because people responded to it. Then I watched him go through some sort of metamorphosis. He had a feature one night and did a song I think was called Back Pack. I think that was the night NDB died and Collin Gibson (the Artist) was born. The dude I once said was the next LL seemed to rebel against his mass appeal for a more artistic version of himself who could spit and say something more. At that point I knew that I was wrong for comparing him to LL (which was only because I knew that dude could just about rhyme about anything and appeal to a lot of people). Collin showed me something way deeper. He showed me an artistic genius who would forever be hard to define because he would forever be evolving. He's the smart guy in the class that cuts up because the class is too slow for him. He's a FreeMan and Freedom is a Road Seldom Traveled by the Multitudes.

Bio
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Collin Gibson has always had an ear for music. He originally started making beats as a hobby and later began rapping at the early age of 15. After coming together with a group of high school friends, they built a home studio and released their first project, "The Precedent". Shortly afterward, Collin released his first solo attempt entitled "SaluteDELUX".
During his time in the Army, Collin, along with another military friend, formed a crew of rappers and dubbed themselves The Ill Mic Aphyliates, or IMA. The crew was formed almost entirely online and recorded songs together by sending beats and verses via email to each other. They later released one of the first internet-based CDs and sold over 2,000 copies by hand coupled with hundreds of sales via I-Tunes and CD Baby and thousands of downloads from Soundclick.com. Together the crew has amassed over 500,000 page views and over 2,000,000 streams and downloads from Soundclick.com alone.
After his time in the Army, Collin moved to Atlanta to pursue his career in music. He began recording more projects and performing at local venues as well as working with other local artists as a producer and occasionally writing for their projects.
Some of his influences include Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Big Boi and Andre, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. He has always been inspired by those musicians that make their own lane. It is Collin's creative chameleon style in lyrics and production, however, that crosses over all music genres and brings hope for listeners with his ability to breathe anyones life through his music.
Now a member of Atlanta-based break out group Passport, Collin has garnered the attention of executives of the industry, having been signed to Teddy Riley's production company, The Artist Factory, and pursued by representatives of record labels ranging from Cee Lo's Radiculture to Universal.
Ten years have passed since Collin first stood in front of the microphone. Ten years and twelve independently distributed albums later and he is ready to change the industry forever. Collin's music speaks for itself and he is ready to make his own lane. By giving consumers a new sound, a new style, and an entirely a new way to embrace hip hop, Collin's goal is to be one of the greatest that hip hop has ever witnessed.
