Codie Prevost is gifted. He has the fire of passion for music and the soul of a singer. He and his guitar could set the world alight with their tales of love and love lost to the passing of time. His style if similar to Keith Urban and Bryan Adams and there’s a sprinkle of Rob Thomas’s panache thrown in for good measure. But Codie is his own man and could easily steal the applause from even the most admired of his contemporaries. ‘Better Off Alone’ is clever, cryptic country music and you can almost smell the burning of the strings as Codie strums the guitar with the passion emanating from his musically inspired soul. Codie Prevost sings about his past, his present and his hopes for his future. His voice is superb and there’s fire in his belly. Codie wants to perform; he wants to show you what he can do and- most of all- he wants to entertain. Let him tell you the story of his life. Let him make you click your fingers and tap your feet. ‘The Road Ahead’ is refreshing, a breath of fresh air sweeping the dust from the music scene. You believe every word, you identify with Codie’s sentiment. Never before has the plight of the young male as he trundles through life been penned, phrased and expressed so elegantly.
The relationship between father and son is expressed to wonderful perfection on this album and one soon begins to wonder precisely where this Mr Codie Prevost has been hiding all these years. Is Mr Prevost yet another find that has gone under the radar of the music executives so busy signing Pop Princesses that they don’t recognise talent when it walks past them onward to fan worship, applause and adoration? To quote the Kaiser Chiefs out of context, when people get a hold of Codie’s new album “I predict a riot”. Country music with a dash of rock thrown in to spice things up. ‘The Road Ahead’ is a truly remarkable album that tells of a talent with much more to say. He means what he says and says what he means. He loves her and it’s not just the beer talking. She’s better off alone with him. In short, Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome onto the stage: Codie Prevost. - Musicshopper.info
