Bio
Sexy, brassy vocalist and versatile songwriter Clarissa Spiller hails from the great state of New York but found roots on the West Coast after leaving home at age 19 in pursuit of the world.
Influenced by Sia, Sharon Jones, Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, Betty Davis, Marva Whitney, Led Zepplin, Joni Mitchell, Sade, Radiohead, Lily Allen and Beyonce among other obscure Soul, Classic Rock, Down tempo and house artists with just a hint of a unique and outlandish Grace Jones flare.
Clarissa and her band of wild one's, the Spillers, bring their soulfully hip sounds straight to your brain's pleasure points. Like a Neon Soul Gypsy dancing through a crowded room her lyrics come from a place beyond your average teenage lovesick song and pulls at the human spirit in a very engaging way.
In the very early years, she began exploring music through her church choir and local theater productions in her hometown of Olean, NY. Music has always surrounded Clarissa's life. Music is a Spiller family tradition. Her father worked as a touring vocalist and lounge singer which exposed her to the world of jazz at a young age.
When Clarissa was 13 she began playing guitar at the encouragement of her parents. She began writing songs that year. She then pursued open mics and jam sessions while working on side recording projects with local hiphop artists. The rest is HERstory
