"Serious Chops"

"Power POP with serious chops. This isn’t flirting, wooing, or dating; Clarias goes straight for the lip-lock and doesn’t let up.” - Jay Sweet, Editor At Large for PASTE Magazine

"Music Snob"

"Local five-piece band Clarias is the rare group you can recommend to both your music snob roommate and John Mayer-loving little sister." - The Boston Metro

"Get Epic On You"

“What’s the quickest way to link Nickelback to Kanye West? It may be via a band from Boston named Clarias, who’ve shared the stage with both. This should give you two clues about their music: (a) it can and will get epic on you and (b) it demands you shake whatever it is you’re working with. For a band that started off as college rock, Clarias is as mercurial as hell. Take, for example, the song “Wonder/Wander” off their new album “The Days of The Getaway”. What starts off as funk rock on hyper speed, complete with Doobie Brothers worthy riffs, segues into frenetic pop rock with guitars that rear up and demand that you dance, like RIGHT NOW. Then there’s “WINOK” (an acronym for “What If No One Knows”), a poly-rhythmic, multi-part rock odyssey that shimmers and soars. Fans of Dave Matthews Band will find plenty to like here. Oddly enough, Clarias hasn’t played with those guys yet. Maybe next tour.” - Ourstage.com

"Could be played on rock radio today"

"Clarias is a talented independent rock band out of Boston with the ability to write catchy songs. Clarias delivers a great collection of tunes on their second album. Mixed by Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Lifehouse, Dave Matthews Band), who also mixed a track on the bands debut, and produced by Matthew Ellard (Elliot Smith, Weezer), it's no wonder that the album sounds so clean and crisp. With all of this talented help, Clarias was able to draw upon all of their influences to create an impressive array of pop rock songs. Songs like 'Heavyweights' and 'What I Cannot See' could be played on rock radio today alongside successful major label artists, and the listener would never be able to tell that these guys were unsigned. The music is tight and the lyrics are well written. Overall, the album sounds fun, with music that everyone can identify with. Keeping on this path, Clarias is sure to have great success." - THISisModern.net

"Not just a pop-rock band"

"One of the first noticeable aspects about Clarias is the fact that they have their own sound. They're not afraid to experiment with their music and they're certainly not afraid to stand out from the crowd. The second noticeable aspect of this eclectic band is the vocals of lead singer Michael Giordano. His vocal style stands out from many singers today and is undeniably unique. Clarias's Lines portrays these two solid qualities of the band which undoubtedly separate them from the majority of pop-rock acts. These guys are not just a pop-rock band. Each song on the record sounds utterly unlike the next and although this album stands with a mere ten tracks, the eclectic journey you'll experience is more than worth it.
Overall, if you're looking for a record with a fresh, unique sound then Clarias's Lines is your perfect match. Lines is as musically experimental and diverse as it is enjoyable to listen to it." - Michelle Gelber, DecentXposure.com

"A big following"

" I have no doubt that Clarias has a big following...They find their biggest supporters in the college and post-college crowds...These guys are certainly talented and play some catchy, fun music." - Delusions of Adequacy-Rochester, NY

"So damn likeable"

"They have a distinct sound, nostalgic of an intimate concert from the 1970's rock and roll with today's college rock sounds. With the incorporation of the acoustic and electric guitar, Clarias blasted energy and passion into the small West Village club...there seems to be something that sets Clarias apart. Perhaps it's that their songs are just so damn likeable. Perhaps it's a sign of a musical revolution, returning to its roots...there seems to be something that everyone can find
in Clarias." - Underrated Magazine-New York City, NY

"Take it easy"

"Clarias, a band that has opened for Bon Jovi and has worked with music producers responsible for Dave Matthews and Weezer, has a gig tonight at Harpers Ferry that previews the group's soon-to-be-released live disc. It's high-energy, radio-friendly jam-pop made by guys who are easy to look at - a good soundtrack for the last Friday of your year."

After 2 successful albums, radio play, a gang-busters touring schedule and an international tour at the end of last year; Clarias decided to spend some time writing and recording in 2010 birthing the self-produced "2197 EP" which is slated for worldwide release in November 2010. It completes the evolution into a whole new sonic range for the band sure to give you the buzz you've been seeking.

An intergalactic love story from the year 2197.

More info to come soon! In the meantime, previous Bio:

Armed with their previous successful release "Lines", a Boston Music Award nomination, and a commitment towards writing and performing innovative music, the group is storming stages--from dingy basement clubs to sweeping amphitheaters and imposing stadiums--with a singular goal: take no prisoners. Resistance is indeed futile in the face of Clarias’s relentless energy and charm. And with airplay on major AAA radio stations, college stations, Satellite Radio and top Boston radio station WBMX Mix 98.5FM, it’s easy to understand why “Boston’s Best Band” opens for celebrated acts like Bon Jovi, Nickleback, Barenaked Ladies, Elliott Yamin, Kanye West, and Jimmy Buffet.

For their latest studio album, the band enlisted award-winning music producer, Matthew Ellard (Weezer, Wilco, Eliot Smith)and renowned mastering pro Fred Kevorkian (Willie Nelson, Iggy Pop, Dave Matthews Band), to commandeer their steadfast pursuit of musical exploration. As a result, The Days of the Getaway — recorded over the fall and winter of 2008— is true to Clarias’s contemporary and pop-rock edge. The recording amplifies the band’s sound with intricate vocal harmonies reminiscent of pop legends like the Bee Gees and multilayered arrangements in the vein of Coldplay—securing its buzz with both fans and critics.

The album’s first single WINOK is currently available for free digital download exclusively on MySpace. The Days of the Getaway, set for official release in the fall of 2009, will be available at various retailers including Newbury, Comics, iTunes, and CDBaby.
