"Local Heroes: City Of Ashes"

FROM: Eastbourne

WE ARE: Orion Powell (vocals), James Macdonald (guitar), Dan 'Freddie' Frederick (bass), Dan Russell (drums).

FAVOURITE BANDS: Thursday, Funeral For A Friend, Circa Survive, Silverstein, 30 Seconds To Mars.

WE SOUND LIKE: "Melodic, emotive alt-rock packed with catchy hooks. If Brand New had a wrestling match with Thursday refereed by 30 Seconds To Mars, it would sound like us."

PEOPLE SHOULD CHECK US OUT 'CAUSE: "We're best known for our eclectic live shows, where you can expect bags of energy, 'lighters in the air' sing-alongs, crowd participation, and possibly our version of a Miley Cyrus song... no two shows are ever the same, and we'd love to see you there!"

"All We Left Behind (City Of Ashes)"

South Eastern rockers City Of Ashes know how to make an entrance with their debut album from the word go full of killer riffs and sing along anthems.

'Ode To Innocence' begins the release, introducing us to a heavy dose of riffs on arrival of Orion Powell's vocals a hauntingly beautiful musical tale begins to unfold. Layering guitar lines smoothly, the drums provided by Dan Russell slot into place providing a scattering of hooks throughout.

'The Highest Point of Living' lacks the power shown throughout previous tracks but with the nimble plucking guitars a beautiful ballad is created. Powell's emotive vocals remain delicate whilst singing hard hitting lyrics such as "The World's a frozen nightmare in which we die alone".

Closing track 'Waves' takes the release back to the City Of Ashes sound we're used to, dashing of nimble guitars entwined with heavy drums. Going out on a high, this anthemic chorus packs a punch providing a sing-along to be induced, leaving the final notes in our head this release has been a corker.

City Of Ashes have achieved near perfection with their debut release, it's clear this is just the start of very good things for the quartet.

5/5 - Black Velvet Magazine

"'South Coast Alternative Rockers Think Big'"

City of Ashes have been tolling away on the UK circuit since 2008, but it's with the release of 'All We Left Behind' that they really look set to break out from the pack.

Hailing from Eastbourne - a town more synonymous with old age and sticks of rock than timeless Brit rock - the quartet have undergone a number of line-up changes but came back invigorated earlier this year with "Then There Was A Hand In The Darkness", a brooding, stadium-filling testament to blood, sweat and tears - and now they could really make an impression with debut album "All We Left Behind" when it is released in November. - Big Cheese Magazine
