Steven, ”Circlesight”: Circle = “The World”/ Sight = “Will See”. The world will see.
Ben, “CIRCLESIGHT in a nutshell means, ‘as one, we see.’ This encompasses our goal of trying to bridge different gaps in the music industry while doing our part in uniting the world.”
Jonny, “I always think of it as us being a little family with the same vision, trying to make a difference. The thing I love about our band is how we are all super close and that we are family first.”
Joe, “A circle represents unity and family. Sight represents vision. I believe when there is unity amongst people, then they can set out to accomplish a greater vision and purpose.”
CAN YOU REMEMBER A TIME THAT YOUR MUSIC MADE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONES LIFE?
Jonny, “There are many times that I felt like our music made a difference. I like to hear that people like our songs or the stories we share at a show. The best things are hearing that someone would listen to our songs for inspiration. My favorite story came from a little girl at a special needs camp who could not walk and was not supposed to ever again. She listened to our album everyday while training and later went on to compete in the Special Olympics.”
Steven, “We played a show on Venice beach, after the show we had a homeless guy come up to us and thank us for being a voice for him. We hung out with the guy and he said he’s never had a band perform there that cared about the homeless or reached out to them as much in the 20 years he’d been there. What stood out to us was that our music got to be a voice for him and that he felt like an equal to us. Helping someone feel dignity is a powerful thing. We were glad we got to be a part of it.”
Ben,“I can think of a lot of times our music has affected peoples lives. Sometimes we won’t even know until much later when we run into them again and they will tell us something we did that really changed their life or helped them get through a moment. That’s the best for me!”
Joe, “After one of our shows at the Viper Room someone came up to me and said how much love they felt in the room when we were playing. One of our goals with our music is to help people feel loved and encouraged. If a stranger was moved in this way by our music then I think we’re on to something.”
ON APRIL 10TH AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN HOLLYWOOD, CIRCLESIGHT IS PARTNERING WITH OASIS LA AND SAVING INNOCENCE IN THEIR EFFORTS TO END HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WHY DO YOU PERSONALLY HAVE AN INTEREST IN ENDING SEX SLAVERY?
Jonny, “Through partnering with many organizations over the years, I have learned a lot about sex trafficking. The first time I heard some of the statistics I was shocked, especially the numbers coming from the city we live in. I had no idea it was such a prominent thing in so many American cities. Now I am glad we have many opportunities to partner with organizations like Oasis LA and Saving Innocence to help bring awareness an end to sex trafficking.”
Steven, “We feel that artists have a social responsibility to create works that bring hope and awareness to things all around us. Being about justice was engrained in our vision when we first started the band. We have an interest in ending sex slavery because there is no excuse for slavery to exist. There are more slaves in the world today then there ever have been in history. Most people have no idea and most don’t know what to do about it. It starts with us. As a band we make noise, and we can be a voice. We hope our music inspires people to be louder than us with their actions. ”
Joe, “I’ve had the opportunity to tutor kids recently and the mere thought of these precious, bright, and young individuals being robber of their freedom and being placed into avenues of exploitation and perversion for the sake of financial gain disturbs me at a core level. Awareness is the first step to solving this problem. The more aware people are of the problem, the more likely people will be to come together and seek solutions. I know a lot of people are aware that sex slavery is a real thing, but most people assume it just happens out in Southeast Asia somewhere. Since it is so far away, they feel helpless and so they downplay their ability to find solutions and help. What people fail to realize is that sex slavery happens here in the United States and at a rather alarming number.”
Ben, “I have lived most of my life with an interest in ending human trafficking. My dad has been a part of a non profit that is trying to end modern day slavery and that passion has trickled down to me. The fact that slavery still exist today is atrocious, and most people do not know the full extent of it. Anything we can do to help however small or big is critical on so many levels.”
WHAT DO YOUR NECKLACES MEAN?
Steven, “Our necklaces are made from the inner working of vintage watch pieces. We make them to symbolize “Inner Beauty” and “Identity”. When we look at each other we see shells of clothing, skin and hair. We don’t see the complexity and beauty that resides beneath the surface. Often times, what is inside is far more beautiful than the outside. Such is true for watches. We hope that everyone who wears our necklaces remembers that what’s inside them is more valuable then what is often seen externally. We have wrestled finding our identity as a band through years in many ways. The primary struggle for us has been to be relentless in our vision as a band and not settle for careers that are “safer”. We are CIRCLESIGHT, we were made to create music and we are not going anywhere.”
Jonny, “Our necklaces represent that what is most important and often times most beautiful is what is on the inside. I like when people ask me what is on my necklace and I get to share the meaning behind it. I believe no matter who you are or where you are in life having a reminder of your self worth is really important. I have personally struggled with my identity of a long time…and I am not saying I have it totally figured out yet…haha! Our necklaces remind me that some of the most important/beautiful things are on the inside and not necessarily what man can see. I hope when others wear them they can carry the same meaning in their lives too.”
Ben, “Our necklaces show that the inside is often more stunning than the outside. This is something that took me a long time to learn. If I am being honest it is something I am still learning. It helps to have a reminder of that hanging around your neck!”
Joe, “They represent inner beauty. People rarely get to see what goes on inside of a watch casing, yet the workings of a watch are so intricate and magnificent. Though each piece is different in shape and size, each piece serves the greater purpose of indicating the time. I feel the necklaces are a strong reminder of who we are as human beings. We all have a greater purpose, and yet we are all vastly different, intricate, and magnificent in our own way! - Beauty I Am
