Alaskan singer/songwriter Chris Towne returns country music to the outlaw punch of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. On Harvard & Delaney, Towne unleashes hard-drinking confessions of heartache and regret spiked with old-school twang, no-nonsense honesty, and devilish wit. “This empty bottle had no answer for your lies,” Towne sings on “This Empty Bottle,” the record’s melancholic opener that traces its tears through Towne’s mood-spinning acoustic riffs. Towne’s version of the traditional folk classic “Frankie and Johnny” transforms it into a violent country tragedy, a tale of romantic betrayal and retribution that could have easily blended into the catalog of the Man in Black.

Bio
I have been a performing singer and songwriter for over 15 years and my first album of original material “Harvard and Delaney” was completed in September of 2008. I recorded the album at Surreal Studios in Anchorage, Alaska over the winter of 2007/2008. The album is available online at CD Baby, Amazon and iTunes currently. I am proud to say that a lot of the songs from my album are also available to listen to on Pandora Internet Radio. The genre of music that I play is closest to Americana/Country even though I do cover a wide range of artists. Some of my major influences are John Prine, Neil Young and Johnny Cash.
