“...it wasn't until Christopher Paul Stelling performed that the final emotional wall came crashing down. Bio
Christopher Paul Stelling arrived in New York City in 2008 with a guitar and a duffle bag. Not necessarily concerned with making a name for himself, circumstance and necessity soon found him singing and playing guitar on the subway platforms.
The years prior had seen him through an odyssey. From studying under a master guitar builder in Colorado, working a produce market in Boston, sleeping in a closet in North Carolina, managing a used bookstore in Florida, wandering aimlessly through Seattle, all without a said plan in mind, vaguely unaware that something was being stitched together beneath it all.
Those New York subway platforms soon gave way to stages. Christopher has played many of New York’s finest stages including Bowery Ballroom, The Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, Highline Ballroom, Pianos, and The Living Room.
His finger-style guitar playing comes off seemingly effortlessly, bringing to mind the likes of at times John Fahey and Sandy Bull and at other times that of Segovia. Christopher's song writing reaches deep, spineward, with a lyrical styling reminiscent of anything from Dylan, to Faulkner or Walt Whitman.
Having already self released a 20 song album on his own, and a recorded session with Daytrotter, Christopher's highly anticipated debut official full length album, Songs of Praise and Scorn, has been completed and will see release in February 2012.
