Bio
1985 - 1991 School and Jazz Performances
School performances with Richard Maegraith (Java Quartet) playing both rock and jazz repertoire. This was mainly original material composed by myself or together with Richard. During this period we also played live on community radio and at The Soup Plus, Sydney.
1992 – 1994 Cumulo Nimbus
Lead vocalist, bass player, and songwriter in my own originals band. Performances at The Harbourside Brasserie, Real Ale Café, and as a duo a residency at The Vicar of Wakefield, Dural. Finalists in M Rock Competition, 1993. Song ‘Talking To Angels’ featured on ‘Simon Townsend’s Wonderworld’.
1995 - 1999 Travel & Study Break
During this time I took a break from live performance in order to travel and complete my musical studies.
2000 UNSW Jazz Group
Running of group involving weekly performances at the UNSW Uni Bar and Roundhouse. Playing bass guitar and writing and arranging some of the material. 2000 Christmas Concert performance with Alistair Spence (Wanderlust) at The Clancy Auditorium, UNSW.
2001 Sydney University Law Revue Band
Playing bass in the University of Sydney Law Revue ‘Better Than Hecs’ which involved a week of performances at the Footbridge Theatre. Band included Alon Ilsar (Gauche) on drums.
2002 - 2003 Solo
Performances at the Songwriting Society of Australia’s monthly concerts held at the Occidental Hotel. Radio appearances including live solo acoustic performances, interviews and airplay of ‘Another Eden’ EP on internet and community radio.
2004 - 2006 Solo & The Ragdolls
Continuing radio airplay of ‘Another Eden’ EP. Completion of solo CD, ‘The Opposite of Jazz’. Formation of The Ragdolls with televised performances on TVS. Live performances at Glebe Street Festival, Bar Broadway, and The Sandringham Hotel, Newtown. Some of my songs were included in two SBS comedy Series: ‘Pizza: The Da Vinci Cup’ and ‘Pizza: World Record Pizza'.
2007 - 2009 The Chagalls
After The Ragdolls disbanded in June 2007 I formed The Chagalls. See www.myspace.com/thechagalls for details. In December 2008 my song 'Shock and Awe' was to feature in another Pizza spin-off series: 'Swift and Shift Couriers' to air on SBS but was pulled in the last minute due to concerns raised by the family of an Australian soldier fatally wounded in Iraq. It is however now featured on the DVD which was released in March 2009.
2010 Solo
After The Chagalls disbanded in 2009 I decided to focus on a solo career, focusing on sync licensing. I recently wrote some incidental piano music for the trailer for Lou starring John Hurt.
2011 Solo
I now have several contracts with sync licensing companies both in Australia and overseas for the use of my songs and music and am currently working on a new set of songs scheduled for release later this year.
