Elegant lullabies. Love. Heartbreak. Everything that makes a band tug at our hearts. - San Francisco Chronicle
You want groovy beats, droning vocals, and a wall of guitars? Look no further than “Nvdeless”, the latest offering by Bay Area rockers, Chineke. These dudes have been in and out of Robot Envy for the last year rehearsing and recording this album with engineer/bassist Bijan Sharifi, and now have something tasty to show for it. I’m pretty impressed with these tracks! Tanner Turner’s thundering toms, Frank Ene’s lonely lyrics, and Bijan Sharifi’s syncopated bass lines really get stuck in your head. 14 songs for $10 aint bad either. Chineke is currently on tour up the CA coast, so check them out if they come through your town. Dates are on the website, www.chineke.org - Robot Envy

Bio
Chineke started in the summer of 2010 when Frank Ene and Tanner Turner moved to Berkeley, CA, after having already played together in Southern California for a few years under different names. They started performing in San Francisco and Oakland in the fall while working on their debut album Nvdeless in their spare time. Upon its release in August 2011, the band embarked on its first tour, which was self-booked up and down the West Coast. Chase David Evans and Bijan Sharifi help to fill out the band's live sound. The band is currently writing and rehearsing for another release and tour.
Their love of music has dominated the lives of the members of Chineke for over a decade. Everyone in the band picked up an instrument at a young age and taught themselves to play it. Chineke writes pop music informed by the array of different sounds they enjoy, like Tom Petty, My Bloody Valentine, Yo La Tengo, Animal Collective, The Feelies, Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop, Radiohead, Cocteau Twins, Bob Dylan, Serge Gainsbourg, Wilco, Pixies, Blonde Redhead, Joanna Newsom, Pavement, TV on the Radio, The Beach Boys, Deerhoof, Happy Mondays, No Age, bebop jazz, dance music, progressive rock, death metal, hip hop, post-rock, etc. All those influences balled together would paint a fairly accurate portrait of the music Chineke makes.
