Chelsea Crowell

Just off the end of a six week European tour to support her second solo record, Crystal City, Chelsea Crowell is already gaining
accolades for a record that is officially unreleased in the states. Crystal City will be released in late February of 2012. Just in time for glowing reviews in support of the record and several cover stories for publications like the Americana Gazette. Crystal City was also named one of the top ten records of 2011 in No Depression’s year end picks. Crowell is a third generation songwriter, raised in both Nashville and New York City. She has been featured on NPR, PBS, and has had her music in full length feature film and documentaries. She has played to audiences of 7,000 as well as seven and Ms. Crowell seems to glide between the two worlds with ease. Crowell's first solo record was named top ten of the year by the Nashville Scene, and though never fully promoted, gained nods from such publications as the L.A. Times and No Depression. Performing live, Crowell has the ability to acclimate to most any situation. Good humored and lively, introspective, heartfelt and humble, Crowell forges her own cross over sound with nods to her bloodlines. Seemingly emerged from what could be described as daunting shadows of her family (father, Rodney Crowell, mother, Rosanne Cash and grandfather, Johnny Cash) the musical choices she has made suggest pride and respect for her roots and tend to shy from nepotism. Though, her innate ability to acclimate may suggest that her talents are half nature (DNA) and half nurture (being raised surrounded by the music and the road). Either way, it certainly serves in writing, recording and touring in what is a promising career.
