Bio
Charly Coombes & The New Breed are a contemporary rock and roll band, with one finger in a warm 60s soul pie. Singer/Songwriter Charly was a member of the indie-rock band 22-20s between 2003 and 2006, then became second guitarist with Supergrass in 2007 until the present day.
In the summer of 2009, Charly met the other members of The New Breed and the band were instantly singing from the same hymn sheet. Based in Oxford, the all singing line-up, which includes Dave Ashworth (Backing Vocals,Guitar), Jake Roos (Backing Vocals, Bass), Reynaldo "Miggi" Migliavacca (Drums) and Charly Coombes (Lead Vocals, Keyboards), immediately had a strong musical connection and friendship.
After two months of rehearsals, working on Charly's back-catalogue, the band played their first live performance in Oxford. By March 2010, Charly Coombes & The New Breed had played many successful gigs around the UK, released their debut EP "Panic", and completed a short tour of the United States, which included an off-the-cuff 30 minute set with Dave Grohl and Rami Jaffe from The Foo Fighters. After more gigs in California and Las Vegas, the tour concluded with a set at the prestigious South-by-Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
Summer festivals and gigs in the UK are being rounded out with a tour in Brazil supporting a Brazilian favorite Cachorro Grande. 2012 will start with a new CD, Noise Control and a tour of the U.K. Charly Coombes & The New Breed are on the way up.
