CATO

Bethany Lindemann , Bassist of Cato, was sifting through some of her older songs when she noticed various references to red moons or "blood moons" within her lyrics. Intrigued, she began researching and was spooked by what she found: Not only are "Blood Moons" a currently occurring phenomenon, but many people believe that these moons are mystical omens too! Lindemann ran with what she found and developed The Blood Moon EP with the help of her band mates.

 Although Lindemann primarily writes the lyrics for Cato, It was guitarist, Stephen Spalding, who lay the foundation for the band. Spalding led the band to work meticulously for the last year, focusing on developing detailed compositions and encouraging experimental effects. His former projects, Deadly Waters and The Belle Weather, have prepared him for this progressive rock experimentation called Cato. 

 Mike Ritt, drummer, entered the scene in a "blind date" situation a family member facilitated. Ritt has always been involved in music, booking bands for UW-Madison, yet had never taken the stage with a rock band before. The three were wildly surprised by how much they clicked. Ritt hails from Pennsylvania and has a well rounded background of all drumming styles. 

 The Blood Moon EP is a concept album filled with mysterious lyrics, electronic effects, minor scales, and syncopated rhythms. This 3-piece band is currently recording their debut album in rural Wisconsin. Release date for Cato's debut album is set for September 26th.
