A friend sent me a link to Castle Dwellers’ “Pacify” a week or so ago. It is a sweet song and very much cut from the Appalachian folk music cloth woven out of the Northwest today. In the vein of the Head and the Heart and Coho Mountain String Ticklers, “Pacify” is gentle but thorough in its quality and pretty as a beach breeze. “And when it’s raining / I still cut myself loose / Drink whiskey all night / And stare at my shoes,” sings frontman Jared Hauser. The band will be playing the Finish Line of Seattle’s Rock and Roll Marathon June 22. Listen to the track here. - The Monarch Review
