Cassady’s dashing electronic music
The duo from Pernambuco – BR releases on the Internet its first EP along with a music video.

Hypnotic textures, gloomy electric guitars and vintage synthesizers create the atmosphere that links Cassady’s rock with electronic. Cassady is a duo from Pernambuco signed by musicians and longstanding friends Nicola Sultanum and Rodrigo Coelho. The duo has just released the music video of their song ‘Lust is Poison’ on the Internet that can be found at http://vimeo.com/38113120. The song is part of their debut eponymous EP which is available for download at www.soundcloud.com/cassady_music.

Coelho - a producer from Pernambuco living in São Paulo - says that the musical format of the signed project emerged naturally. “During the last year Nicola had to come more often to São Paulo and the songs began to happen naturally,” he explains. The first five tracks were drawn on bands from the Early 80’s like Joy Division and Depeche Mode.

Produced at Coelho’s Home Studio, the piece has emerged supported by programming, pianos, synthesizers, guitar, basses and Dobro. The EP’s tracks were mastered by Brian Lucey, an American sound engineer who was responsible for post-producing the Black Keys albums and for David Lynch’s foray at the musical universe.

Staying afar from labels, the duo conjectures that the next five tracks that will lead the CD for its completion – which might be released by the end of 2012 – will be quite different and don’t follow any stereotypes. “Besides from a Tom Zé cover, who is also one of our influences due to his harmonics with no previously established connections, we’ll have tracks composed only with voice and piano,” says Nicola.

Cassady
Nicola Sultanum has already been a member of many bands as the lead singer of Uptown Band and the FAB Five. Today he is the Raybans lead singer and also the head of Mingus restaurant (placed in the heart of Boa Viagem – Recife), a true temple for good music and gastronomy lovers.

Rodrigo Coelho is a multi-instrumentalist and works as a music producer in São Paulo. Among his accomplishments highlights are Pernambuco’s Percussions Samples Library (the first of its kind in Pernambuco) and works with Arto Linday. He also signs the original soundtrack of the movie Paraísos Artificiais, a Marco Prado’s feature film produced by Zazen (Tropa de Elite titled in English as The Elite Squad) which will be released this year.
