Bio
Though just 17, Casey Barth is already a seasoned singer-songwriter in the Boston area. His musical influences are a fusion of alternative rock and singer/songwriters such as Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and Radiohead. With a knack for all things musical, he can play multiple instruments (drums since age 6, piano, guitar, keyboard and vocals) and in many early demos, deftly played several instruments, recorded and mixed them.
Brian Maes, a Boston-area producer and lead singer in Ernie and the Automatics, marvels at Casey’s professionalism and maturity that are amazing for a 17-year old. He says in the studio it's hard to remember that Casey’s still in high school!
Casey’s debut album, Make Your Heart Go, is the culmination of over a year of work including collaboration with producer Brian Maes and Boston area studio musicians. His tunefulness and poignant lyrics span the range of acoustic ballads to high-energy rock with electric elements, reminiscent of artists like Jason Mraz, Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Passion Pit.
His music has driving rhythms, soulful melodies, and catchy lyrics that feature a maturity beyond his years. From simple recordings such as Oh Siren and Lifeboat to complex arrangements like Make Your Heart Go, the themes in Casey’s music explore the deeper questions of life's purpose (Keep Dreaming, Lighthouse, Come to Rise) and our human shortcomings in relationships (Warning Sign, Brightest Eyes, Ill).
Casey was selected as one of 80 musicians to attend Grammy Camp in 2009, from over 2000 applicants and will be featured in a documentary film about Grammy Camp (soon to be released). He also attended Berklee summer programs to further hone his music through study and practice.
With the release of Make Your Heart Go, Casey is looking forward to promoting his music and just having the opportunity to play. He’s an old soul with an incredible depth of musical ability that the album just scratched the surface of. And to think he’s just getting started.
