Another large local unit, Cascadia '10 carry Fela Kuti's unfuckwithable Afrobeat torch with bravado, transporting you to Lagos circa 1975 with roiling funk beats, snaky bass lines, and celebratory horn charts. - The Stranger

"Apophistry" (out now, self-released, cascadia10.bandcamp.com): This single from the Afrobeat ensemble is a team effort. The rhythm section rides out jazz-funk grooves, then gets out of the way to let the horns show off their soloing chops. It's engaging, danceable, and—critical for an instrumental track—never boring. (Thurs., Dec. 6, Nectar Lounge)ANDREW GOSPE - Seattle Weekly

A few years back, Afrobeat emerged from niche-underground status into mainstream music circles. (See Jay-Z’s involvement in Fela! the musical, a proliferation of Afrobeat bands around the U.S., etc.) Now Seattle has its own ambassadors of the thunderous, sinuous style of horn-driven dance music: Cascadia ’10. Riffing on the names of Afrobeat originator Fela Kuti’s backing bands (Africa ’70, Egypt ’80), Cascadia ’10 is a nine-piece group that puts a jazzy spin on the style, with eloquent soloists on horns and guitar. - City Arts Magazine
