"Gig at The Joint"

I popped into the Joint last night to check out some local music. Just wanted to let you guys know you were by far the best band of the night. Good songs, tight playing, good vocals, good personality...I honestly can't say that about the bands that followed you. Keep us in the loop. Cheers, Liz - Liz

"Album Review"

“Carbonine are definitely heavy, at times blistering so, but they never come across like a Heavy Metal band. “Winter Night”, for example, features the sort of shredding in the middle that reminds me of Vernon Reid on “Cult of Personality”, and as I write that it occurs that the two bands share similarities in the way their heaviness can be hidden but ever present. Mike Godoy has a decent voice that I can imagine doing Pop Punk in another life, and the band behind him throw Metal, Pop and Funk about (some very sweet bass lines from Andrew Bushong) like talented metal patients. The album isn’t very heavy on choruses, so can be a bit hard to get into, but the several spins it takes are worth it because there’s a very talented, energetic band here. So what we have is a Heavy Metal band that’s not really a Heavy Metal band, throwing a smorgasbord of tunes that each have their own delicious flavor.” - Allan Holloway Fireworks Magazine - UK

"Albume Review"

“Ian Rico, he has that George Lynch style, and produces Lynch-esque riffs particularly on the hard rocker ‘Take It All The Way’. Vocalist Mike Godoy has that Layne Staley (Alice In Chains) and Brandon Boyd (Incubus) tone and vibrato that really starts to shine through on this record, most notably on the energetic ‘Broken’ Bassist Andrew Bushong (since replaced by Mitchell Wolkow) has a very prominent sound and the hard, modern, mid-tempo rocker and first single ‘Say I Am’ features his bass-led styling with hints of A.I.C. in the heavy rhythm, as well as stamping his authority all over the slower similar A.I.C.-sounding ‘Bury My Shame’. Drummer Alex Ascha is very solid throughout and has a non-showy hard hitting style that drives the band. Last but by no means least mention must go to ‘Edge Of The World’ with its Saigon Kick-esque riffs powering this song along and the rhythmically thundering ‘Thoughts’ with its solid opening staccato riffs. - Carl Buxton - PowerPlay Magazine - UK

"Album Review"

“What they are is a fairly traditional heavy rock band, with a few nu-metal influences which they, thankfully, keep to a minimum. Mike Godoy, Ian Rico, Alex Ascha and Mitchell Wolkowo (although its former bassist Andrew Bushong on the CD) certainly know how to bash out a good tune, some of which seem very Dokken like in nature (ask your Dad). They really are good on hard-edged songs like ‘Take It All The Way’, but manage to impress on a power ballad as well. Not something many bands can pull off but ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’ really works well. At times they head off into Alice In Chains territory and my interest flags slightly, but even then there is more than enough to suggest that Carbonine could develop into something very good indeed.” - Stuart A Hamilton - The Rocker

"Album Review"

“The opening tracks set the pace with thundering drums and searing guitar, complimented by an excellent, tuneful vocal which shows this isn’t just a group with volume, it’s a group with talent too. Each track has a different way of starting, whether with a light touch of blues guitar, or a basic instrumental setup from which the rest of the song builds. These song openings serve two purposes – firstly, they show that this isn’t a band who simply turn things up to make their impact, Carbonine are a band with something substantial to offer. And secondly, the quieter moments allow the heavier sections to really hit home.” - TheMusicNewsSite.com

"Album Review"

“In this nine track album, Carbonine show two main things. One, that they have a very wide range of musical abilities. Two, that they are sure of their sound and are more than able to stick to it. Their main style is heavy and melodic, but certain parts of this are also lighter, more subtle moments which keep things fresh without betraying the band ethos. If I had to pick a highlight or two, I’d go for the rhythmically pulsating ‘Thoughts’ and the excellent ‘Take It All Away’ which strays into thrash territory for the intro before pulling back from the brink as the vocals enter. All in all though, this is very nice work indeed. And it’s out now – get it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/rebirth/id937915934” - Unfashionable Male

"Album Review"

“Opening with two tracks that really set the stage – ‘Say I Am’ and ‘Edge of the World’ – you can tell from the start that this is going to be an LP full of energy. The opener makes an impact, but this is truly followed up by a thudding bass drum which matches to a great distorted guitar line to set a decent pace before a brilliant double time ending with a searing guitar solo. The scene is set. While each song is, at its core, heavy, melodic rock, each is opened with a different feel. There’s an atmopsheric soundscape start to ‘Thoughts’, a pared back vocal/drums/bass only opening to ‘Bury My Shame’. You can buy the album here – and we recommend it.” - Roman Summers - Music Crowns
