Bio

Growing up in Kansas, Cameron Ernst has heard about all of the “Wizard of Oz” references you can imagine. However, the story of little Dorothy and friends in search of a heart, a brain, courage and the way home isn’t too far over the rainbow for him. He actually relates quite well—only he didn’t need a wizard.

His heart. Cameron was just a munchkin when a change in the wind landed his new house (and yes, his little dog, too) in Andover, Kansas. At this young age he found his heart for music, and to this day, he is passionate about it. His childhood home movies reveal that he could never stop singing, whether it was putting his address or the spelling of his name to a tune or singing along with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as he sat glued in front of his favorite movie. At 7, he began playing the piano and soon after started writing and composing his first songs.

His brains. Cameron’s songs are anything but black and white. Musically, each song is unique within the realm of Cameron’s acoustic/pop sound. Lyrically, they range from being deep and metaphorical to playful and witty. Not only is he clever when it comes to songwriting, but he was blessed academically with brains which brought him to the West Coast where he currently attends the University of Southern California. Using his brain and listening to his heart, Cameron kept pursuing music. He entered one of his songs “Your Words” in a national songwriting contest through Comprosers.com, where he was recognized as a top finalist. His piano talents also earned him a spot in the new Sara Bareilles music video “Bottle It Up.”

His courage. Having set out for the star-studded streets of Los Angeles, Cameron has just begun the journey of his dreams. Believing in himself and the musical gifts he was given, Cameron has found the courage to express himself through his music, and his songs have hit home for many listeners.

Cameron hopes that you will check out his music because (because, because, because, because) because of the wonderful things he does…or just because.
