Meet Broken Remarks, a pop-rock band from Stratford, Ontario on the cusp of breakout success. The four-piece, who are quickly making a name for themselves with their catchy melodies and relatable lyrics, are currently showing their local scene the overwhelming potential they hold and it won't be long until music fans worldwide know their name.
Broken Remarks have wasted no time getting to work during their short time together. Releasing their debut single, "Terrified", in Janaury 2014 and quickly following it up with "Make you proud", the band immediately showcased a sound that seemed to meld the likes of Simple Plan, Boys Like Girls and The All-American Rejects. With infectious melodies atop of hard-hitting drums and brilliant vocals, the band began to pick up listeners both locally and abroad who were anxious to hear more, and, luckily for them, the band were more than willing to oblige.
July was a month that saw Broken Remarks release two new singles. Featuring contrasting sounds - "Unplugged" working with poppier melodies than most listeners would expect and "Calm Before the Storm" showcasing a harder, more alternative rock vibe - the songs have turned into fan favourites, with listeners sharing them all over social media. Both tracks show a willingness the band has to grow as artists, and it's easy to see that these guys aren't your typical one-trick ponies.
During their time in the studio, the group have played shows with fellow local acts Within The Wreckage, Reignfall and We Live This Day. With each passing show, they've noticed more and more audience members singing along to their songs and, given the short amount of time the band has been together, that's definitely more than a good sign.
So make sure to give Broken Remarks a listen. They are a band brimming with potential and I can guarantee they're going to go far. You can find their music on Bandcamp and YouTube, and make sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter. They're planning on closing out 2014 with a few hometown shows, so if you happen to be travelling through Ontario this December, why not check them out? You definitely won't be disappointed. - Buzznet
