Britney Christian rocks Epiphone PRE for Milk - Epiphone Musical Instruments - News
Ventura’s own Britney Christian, who graces a festival stage at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, might bring her own cream for her strawberries. She’ll play the festival fresh off a six-gig Northern California tour as part of the ongoing Milk Rocks campaign.
For the past several years, the 20-year-old Christian has been the national spokesperson for Milk Rocks, which endeavors to promote good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. In addition to performing at middle and high schools across the land, Christian gets her picture on milk cartons sold at schools, airports and the like.
The festival is the aspiring pop star’s only local gig in the near future. Christian is also thrilled that she’ll be playing at Milwaukee’s venerable Summerfest. “I’ll be on the Emerging Artists Stage there, which is very exciting,” she said last week in Ventura.
Christian said her musical style is akin to influences such as Kelly Clarkson, Pink and Katy Perry. Her EP “Long Way” was released on iTunes, Amazon and the like in November and she has a 10-song hard-copy CD that’s available only at her concerts.
“I’m always looking to come out with new music for the fans,” she said.
Her songs have been featured on such shows as “Ghost Whisperer,” “Guiding Light,” MTV’s “Laguna Beach” and “The Biggest Loser.” In December, she was selected as top female artist in “The Next American Star” online reality competition.
Christian’s about as local as a berry dangling on an Oxnard Plain vine. She was born and raised in Ventura, and attended Loma Vista Elementary School, Cabrillo Middle School and, until touring interrupted, Foothill High School. She later graduated from El Camino High School.
Christian’s goal is “to take this as big as I can possibly do it.”
On a side note, Beatlemania, which also hits the stage Saturday afternoon, better play “Strawberry Fields Forever” or an unsightly melee might ensue, resulting in some of those leftover pies in their face.
