Listen to We Don't Want To Hear About It by The Sidemen a bluesy funk alt rock pop soul outfit headed by front man singer songwriter guitarist Brian McShea and you feel like you are standing in some sort of rarefied space populated with horn players who may or may not be wearing silky shirts. People of all colors and political views just feeling the intoxication of the vibe. The time maybe 1979 or 1989 or 1999 or now in some small club that transcends time and trends.

With their cool ambiance, The Sidemen, an alt-rock band from Los Angeles, led by Brian Mcshea, knows how to entertain. Their single, “We Don’t Wanna Hear About it”, is a perfect combination of a band jam session mixed with crowd appeal that will have fans getting up, ready to dance to their beat.
Featuring Bassist Maddie Jay of Maddie and the pH Collective and drummer Jonah Summerfield, The song has a great funk beat as it opens with quiet drums and synths. In an almost speak/sing like way, Mschea sings about changing times as the song switches to the chorus, where the drums pick up and the bass really kicks in. Towards the end, a trumpet is introduced, closing out the song with electric guitar as the song fades off. - Get Some Magazine
Featuring bassist Maddie Jay of Maddie Jay and the pH Collective and drummer Jonah Summerfield, The Sidemen bring us back to patent leather, pivot-on-the-heel kind of 80s funk. There is a reference to Morris Day on their website bio and that is not wrong. The Sidemen are able to take influences from the age of glitter and wooden heels, and create something new; and maybe someone is putting their finger on a problem we have today:

Brian McShea and The Sidemen are an alt rock jam band put together by bandleader Brian McShea. Armed with a rainbow of songs written and scored by Brian, the hornline explodes with improvisational energy as the rhythm section never stops burning. Whether it's the fire of the trumpet or the thunderous pocket of the drums, each Brian McShea and the Sidemen show seems to top the last.
