Bio
Brian Byrne joined his first band — a hair metal
band called Pandemonium — in 1988 in Corner
Brook, Newfoundland. He continued to play in
bands in the early 1990s, while working different
jobs in Steady Brook and Toronto.
In 1997, Byrne joined I Mother Earth as the band’s
lead vocalist. He recorded two albums with them,
Blue Green Orange (1999) and The Quicksilver
Meat Dream (2003).
After 10 years, Byrne began to find his way back
to the stories, melodies and songwriting of his
youth. His first solo release in 2006, Tuesdays,
Thursdays & If It Rains, earned him East Coast
Music Awards and Canadian Radio Music Awards
nominations and established him as a solo artist
in his own right. Byrne released his second solo
album, Tailor Made, in 2007, and in 2010, he
released a three-song EP called Boots and Blood,
a preview for his third full-length solo album.
I Mother Earth announced an end to its “hiatus”
in January 2012, and the group is producing new
music with Byrne again on lead vocals.
Most recently, Byrne has been raising money to
support families affected by autism — as well as
awareness — through his new clothing line, OCD
Collective, in partnership with Surfers Healing.
