"Drown Inside LP-not a bad album!" - A&R Worlwide (national)
"With a sound that alternates between edgy jams and softer more melodic tunes, this act can do it all ... "Drown Inside", the latest attempt by evenout is chock full of radio friendly songs including, "Look Back" & "Threw It Away". - On Tap
"....I watched Evenout come onto the stage with screaming girls and pumped up guys everywhere! I was initially taken back, as I was not expecting such devotion and such admiration. The 9:30 Club, in Washington, DC, was packed and filled with life. As I watched Evenout from backstage, literally feet from them, I soon understood what the fuss was all about. At just the second song, I became a screaming girl myself and got chills when Boyd was feet from me, singing "Fragile Page" ... Evenout could be the next big thing outta DC." - NeonLounge.com
"Here's a promising band with one of those"not really weak tracks on it" debut EP out now. The quartet, led by Boyd Mangum's worthy guitar chops and voice, has quite a bit going for them and are on tour to prove it. The sound? Acoustic and electric punk laden rock with above average tricks on the electric guitar and clean stroking on the acoustic." - Creative Loafing (Charlotte, NC)
"....Evenout is a harder-than-thou hard rock group, with the vocal kicks of a Chris Cornell prodigy, but also with some pop stylings to bring in the chicks." - Charlottesville Hook (Charlottesville, Va.)
"Evenout has a big anthemic rock sound that feels very timeless, not based in any of the decades, but instead draw influences from the 70's, 80's & 90's alike ... good stuff indeed!" - Melodic.net
"...the new independent release from Washington, DC-based rock band Evenout, is a tantalizing Gen Y aural call to arms ... evenout has crafted a winning record of guitar driven rock built on solid melodic songwriting." - Evansville (IN.) Courier and Press
"Produced by Steven Haigler (Fuel, The Pixies, As Tall as Lions, etc ...), the band lays down some very radio friendly fare, which is probably why they're getting airplay on some of the mid-Atlantic's largest rock radio stations." - Guitar.com
"The best thing to come out of Washington, DC in a long time is the band, Evenout. The seven song cd, "Drown Inside", rocks!
From the opening bass driven lines to the supercharged riffs of "Controller", you know these guys came prepared, with hooks and rock anthems galore." - All Access (Southern California)
"This could be the next big thing from the region. With an impressive guitar-fueled sound, a nice crop of original songs & the top notch production work of Steven Haigler, this band is poised for success." - Maryland Music Monthly
"This is a set that's compettitive with anything the majors are putting out and will probably be right in the same ballpark once it starts making some noise on it's own." - Midwest Record Recap
"Evenout puts forth an honest effort. It's a surprise this band doesn't have a record deal yet. Sign them and give them direction. This is an A&R man's wet dream." - Aftertaste

Bio
Some people work in an office, and they're happy. Some people own and operate companies, and they're happy too. I write, record & perform music for a living. It's what I do best and I love doing it! So that makes me happy. And, to pay the bills for my family, I play cover gigs. I love to tour.
I started singing when I was old enough to sing along with my mom & dad in the car. Not sure when that was exactly, but i'm glad that they inspired me to sing and play.
All through high school I sang and played guitar in bands, and i'll always do it I guess.
In early 2001, I moved from NC to northern, Va. There, after a year and a half of searching, I finally found a DC based rock band called Evenout. They were in the middle of auditioning singers. I jammed with them 7 different times, was given a couple of their songs that the old singer already had lyrics and melodies for...they wanted to see what I could come up with on my own. The true test to find out if we all would gel creatively. I landed the gig and we would spend the next 3 and a half years building something amazing.
In late 2004, October 14, our management (State of The Artist; Atlanta, Ga.-Chris Tanner) at the time, got us on one of the most incredible gigs of a lifetime ... "The Rock Boat 2004'", with artists like Sister Hazel, Tonic, David Ryan Harris, Cowboy Mouth, Collective Soul, Better Than Ezra & the list goes on. Here we are, an unsigned act, chosen, after only being a band for a little over a year, to play, chill & learn from some of our days' most sucessful artists...it doesn't get a lot better than that so early on in a band's lifespan.
I've shared the stage with Collective Soul, Sister Hazel, Tonic, 3EB, Blues Traveler, The Spin Doctors, Better Than Ezra, David Ryan Harris, Maroon 5, Sting, John Mayer, Fuel, etc ...
Emerson Hart, David Ryan Harris, U2, Radiohead, The Police, Led Zeppelin, Blues Traveler, Jeff Buckley & Seal are influences I've been fortunate enough to pick up along the way. The best is ALWAYS yet to come. So I can't wait to pick up an endless amount of new experiences, play & write with many more amazing artists, and play in your home town.
Thanks for listening,
Boyd
