Bio
Bonsai Nation is a reggae/punk band based out of San Marcos, TX. Before San Marcos they resided in Canyon Lake, TX, and rocked out solely to punk music. It wasn't until James (Bass and Vocals) went to college that a new direction began to unfold for the Bonsai boys. James discovered reggae! The band built upon their punk foundation with the heavy reggae jams that had captured their hearts and minds. Over the past six years they have refined their sound and played steady gigs in the San Marcos/Austin area. Bonsai Nation has written and recorded two full length albums and an acoustic EP in their home studio ("Self Transforming Machine Elves" LP 2010, "Between Here and There" acoustic EP 2012, and "New Roots" LP 2013). They are young, versatile, motivated and ready to expand. Bonsai Nation consists of four members: Ray Hanly-23 guitar and Vocals, Justin Ross-22 guitar, James Newman-22 bass and vocals, and Kelby Ross-20 drums. Their influences, to name a few, include Passafire, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad, Easy Star All-stars, Bob Marley, NOFX, Elliott Smith, The Beatles, Nirvana, SPM, Keak Da Sneak, Too Short and last but not least Z-R0. You can keep up with Bonsai Nation on practically every social media outlet there is, and also on their official website-Thebonsaination.com
