The summer has been filled with tightrope walking heights and supreme lows. A summer of underdogs and new friends that changed so my perspectives in the effect dice tumbling down a hill; each side combination complex and individual to the last roll. It is now past that time, the late fall, and sitting here I am left with the unbelievable desire to reflect and capture a few of the emotions past for the history books.
The one man band (and personal friend) Bonnaventure James captures a childhood nostalgia that reminds me of my favorite parts of the psychedelic Duck Tails combine with the general good sense of pop electronica. Summer of '86 took me a few listens to get into, i wont lie. My first reactions were mixed, but after recent events the song seemed to meld perfectly in the mix with the sound that I have come to appreciate and love this season. I write honestly and from the heart when I say this is a really good jam. The break beat instrumental goes perfectly over the shaky synth creating that wonderful psychedelic blend that works to bring out the thoughtful and impassive tone in Jarons voice.
I can't wait to here some new jams from the talented Jaron and his Bonnaventure project. - Midnight Social Club

Bio
Starting as an experiment in digital composition for a music class at the University of Lethbridge, Bonnaventure James has evolved from "computer lab avant garde" in to a name in Alberta electronic music. Now, Bonnaventure James' patented sound combines Pop, Electronica and New Wave in unexpected ways. Pushing pop songs to raucous and experimental new levels, crushing bits and dropping beats.
From performing at summer music festivals such as Sled Island (2010), Wyrd Fest (Lethbridge 2010), and the Works Art festival (Edmonton 2010, 2011), the singer/producer has crafted a dynamic live show that can fill the dance floor and get people moving. He has since opened for national touring artists like Phantogram, Cop Shades, Digits and Axis of Conversation.
Bonnaventure James has a self released split EP with good friend and fellow DJ/producer Typist (of Calgary bass music crew The Rinse Out), and is releasing a full length album in 2012.
