Keep Rocking!!!!!! - .Zohn Yancy
There’s a riot goin on, we fly back on an immaginary mindtrip to 1971 to refresh one of the best albums of the 70’s that with its title perfectly descriptive the flaming magma erupted from this 5 songsdebut ep made by Blue Movie. As a matter of fact 8MM Lovesongs is an interesting blend of new sounds, crossovering with a solid musical structure that undoubtely comes from many era’s. “Murder will out” iis a flag itself with the in-famous melodic line from Alphaville and a very brilance work of fine tuning between melody and heavy guitar riffs.
Track 2 on the list “Lesson learned” goes even deeper into finding a perfect balance between the melody and the power of the rhythm section. Great bass guitar line there in between really gets your attention and blood moving.
But it’s with the remake of “on the loose” that Blue Movie probably make their statement in terms of innovation in terms of sound and use of melody. Really a very good remake of a great song!
With song #4 the speed goes a little bit down and the whole atmosphere goes into yet another direction, but the band is able to keep it firmly on the ground. A sort of style excercise to prove they can manage to really dominate their will and Energy to bring over power and effectiveness.
“Love grenade” doesnt really add much to our impression but in case it gives more strength to the idea of a new band that could succeed where many more failed before, mixing the experience of the past with the sound of today, or shall we say Tomorrow?!?
