Blank Cinema. The band played to a packed house ready to party on the holiday and didn’t disappoint. With a set of songs so polished you could see (and hear) their sheen, Blank Cinema’s music was undeniably fun, feel-good, accessible and audience-pleasing. This is one Radio 3 recognized band to watch out for. - Discorder
Performing vocals, guitars, keys, bass and programmed drums (and even doing the recording and mastering), Jake Fox, a.k.a. Blank Cinema (and brother of pro shred Jesse Fox), has taken on a massive job with his first EP release, Fickle Creatures. And it's not only a tremendous accomplishment--it's a really good record. Fickle Creatures takes listeners through an odyssey of sorts. revolving thematically around a movie that takes place in Fox's mind, without any actors, The result is a deeply dark and creative at times, and infectiously accessible at others. He tips his hat to everyone from David Bowie and Talking Heads to Weezer and Wolf Parade. Fox's influences are as eclectic as his music. And in the case of this EP, that's a good thing. Having just enlisted a full-time band to help him take his sound on the road, I'm sure this first offering from Fox is only the beginning. - Snowboard Canada
Meet Jake Fox. He's the one-man-band in this project. All instruments you hear in this recording are the result of Jake's incredible multi-tasking abilities. "Fickle Creatures" takes the listener on a journey you won't soon forget. - CBC Radio 3 NMC

Bio
What’s in a name?
Amid the internet’s love for audacious and shocking musical monikers, is it strange that a band would aim to conjuring up nothing in the mind but an empty stage. “That was the point,” says Jake Fox, “to take them to a movie and have the audience see the space that exists before the spectacle”.
Blank Cinema was the space in which Fox could tell his stories, an empty stage for creation.
Jake Fox’s previous Toronto outfit Comic Book Fever earned him a remix by Crystal Castles and billing alongside Tokyo Police Club, Born Ruffians and other Toronto up and comers. Now on Blank Cinema’s form defining EP, ERAS, Fox has modelled a sound that aptly reflects their cinematic moniker.
From the first sound of impact on “Destroy Together” to the sprawling sonic layered climax of “What You Have”, the cinematic and ethereal nature of Blank Cinema has told a story. Since its release the songs have been featured on the BBC and other radio stations throughout England and college radio play throughout Canada, as well as featured in independent films internationally.
Currently, Fox is working on Blank Cinema’s full length debut which is scheduled for release in 2017.
