Formed in 2009, Black Market Research, an Indie/Alt band headquartered
in Nashville, TN, is the brainchild of drummer Troy Woodward
(Melbourne, FL),  front-man Nick Britt (Farmington, NM), and newest member Paul Nycz all who
moved to Music City in pursuit of opportunities as career musicians.



In January 2011, BMR released their debut EP, entitled "Insult to
Injury", which found it's way onto local radio stations and helped to
create a loyal following in Middle Tennessee. It became one of the most
played albums on Vanderbilt University's WRVU radio. In November, BMR
was voted as Nashville's 2011 "Musicians of the year"- (RAW), and a few
weeks later, won their first music video from Grammy-winning producer,

Early in 2012, a Kickstarter.com campaign was launched in the hopes of
raising enough funds to self-produce a full length album. The goal was
not only reached, but doubled, so BMR spent the majority of the Spring
recording tracks to be featured on the project. "Shapeshifter's
Masquerade" (the name of the sophomore effort) was distributed to the
Kickstarter supporters and released locally in October, and released
digitally on December 23, 2012.
