Bio
Philotronic: this is exceptional artist Betty Lenard‘s newly founded genre. Together with Thomas Geiger, Live-Electronics Artist, the Graz/Austria-based singer and songwriter creates a musical triad, composed of Philharmony, Philosophy and Electronic. Publicly known as Betty Lenard, the duo has – along with five german sound artists and musicians – translated the following vision into sound:
Airy, many-levelled compositions and an instrumental multidimensionality that bears witness of the phenomenal musicality of the two-piece form a seemingly borderless sound-body beyond rigid boundaries.
Enter stage: Betty Lenard
The shared musical vision has already left its mark in their history. “So She Falls“, the first song to be produced together, gave quite some kudos to the German/Austrian duo: In 2007 the international AES Convention bestowed on them the first prize in the category “Sound Recording“ in Vienna. A success that would soon find its successor: By coming in first place in the course of the High Resolution Audio Conference in London in 2007 attention was drawn yet again to the up-and-coming musicians. George Massenburg (Grammy-winner for the Dixie Chicks et al.), Roland Prent (Bap, Grönemeyer, Rammstein, Guano Apes) and Akira Fukada (Fukada Tree-Surround Miking) – a jury of international acclaim – highly honoured the Duo’s efforts. The path for Betty Lenard’s sound evolution was laid bare.
APUS
The album APUS, which was produced by Thomas Geiger in 2009 (the name signifying the constellation of the bird of paradise), showcases 10 Tracks of Thomas and Betty’s virtuosic sound. Mastered by none other than Mazen Murad, who has worked for Björk, Elbow and Robbie Williams, among others, Betty Lenard’s voice arises at times floatingly and bears above a sea of acoustic and electric instruments. Her lyrics speak of poetic and surrealistic places whose sounds bring to mind wistful longing. Thus Betty Lenard creates a hitherto unheard-of fusion of Electronica, Pop- and Folk music whose very own language is so expressed: picturesque scenes for the aural sense.
