Minneapolis songwriter Benjamin Tucker's songs range across the spectrum of Americana music, from Country and Pop, to Old Time, Folk and Blues. His music contains the echoes of life in middle America, along with the colors his travels around the West Coast, Europe and Japan.
Moving from Iowa to Minneapolis to attend College, Tucker taught elementary school in inner city Minneapolis before stopping to put more time into music. "I always thought music should be about life more than life should be about music," Tucker says, "You have to learn what people's lives are really like if you are gonna write songs that really speak to them where they are at."
"Wenonah," Tucker's most recent release is quiet mix of songs, recorded mostly live, with a group of talented friends. The first track, "Mississippi Dream," was a semi-finalist in the 2007 International Songwriting competition, and "Selma" is featured on "Dream On," a tribute CD honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Chevrolet" from Tucker's first release, A Different State of Mind, has been featured on NPR's "Car Talk." He was also selected as a Midwest Finalist in the 2008 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest.
