This Hoboken duo-turned-quintet's "Professor & Maryann"/ "Suspended Animation" CD single is thick, sprawling, psychedelic fuzz-goth with an echoing, incoherently poetic but still rather gripping Sugarcubish female voice up front. (Chuck Eddy) - Village Voice
Barbara must be a large fan of Patti Smith....Perhaps Barbara's voice is lovelier than Patti's. The four songs orient themselves in music likewise strongly at the work of Ms. Smith, in addition, Sonic Youth. Atmospherically..."Careless" sounds most independent....for friends of the pure indie and alternative sound. **** - Twang Tone (Germany)
...The Independent Candidate--Barbiana Complex, a mile-square city group, takes the stage at Maxwell's on Jan 29 at 9 pm. (interview by Eugene Mulero) - Hoboken Current
