Bio
Baltic Avenue is a six piece band that reinterprets the classics of our age. Not a true cover band, nor a tribute band. A repertoire that includes the Pretenders, Neil Young, the Beatles, Byrds, Cream, Dylan, Donovan, Lovin' Spoonful, the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Lucinda Williams, Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and more.
The band is composed of Toronto musicians, three of which with Baltic origins, from guitarist Peeter Kopvillem, a rock legend in Estonia, to Lithuanian Jenny Dean, (aka Kristina Puidokas) who once placed second in the Toronto mayoralty race as one of the Hummer Sisters.
Lifelong musicians with intriguing double lives:
Jennifer Dean (lead vocals) is an actor/singer/closet writer
Gets her kicks assisting movers and shakers in law, politics, showbiz and the environment.
Peeter Kopvillem (guitars, vocals) is Senior Editor of Maclean's magazine .
Nigel Dean (drums) is a contractor who destroys and rebuilds houses.
Terry Flynn (guitars, electric sitar) manages blockbuster office buildings and recently won his industry's Oscar; the Office Building of the Year Award. Semi-Latvian
Jim Taylor (bass) is a Primary/Junior teacher and visual artist currently working in community development and advocacy.
Brian D. Johnson (percussion) is senior entertainment writer and film critic at Maclean's magazine.
