AWAYS AWAY'S EVAN DE AUGUSTINIS ON HIS MUSIC CAREER - AOL
Some bands are great at combining various sub-genres of rock into their own cohesive sound. Aways Away is one of those bands. Coming from the great state of New York, a state that is never short of good music; the band can be best described a fusion of punk, indie, and good ol rock n roll. The four piece band composes of Evan (Vocals, Guitar), Joe (lead guitar), Silvano (bass), and Dana (drums). Their sound reminds me of great bands such as; Vampire Weekend and The Strokes.
I'm a sucker for any song that kicks off with the great deep sounds of the bass and their song "Word On The Street" does just that. In fact, the song takes it even further and allows for the bass to be the main instrument, it completely takes the lead. "Wake You" dark subject matter is very honest and in your face. It seems to deal with someone's death and not being able to tell someone good bye. The ending chilling lyrics "will you save yourself for me?" is very haunting and will pierce you deeply.
Their music ranges from fun to serious, but all in all they;re a great band. Check them out here http://www.reverbnation.com/awaysawaymusic - Indie Music Reviews
A quick glance at the artists Away Aways have ‘liked’ on their facebook is revealing: ‘The Smiths, David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys…”. Ok, that’s a good start. Add Libertines to the list, and you’ve got it. But make no mistake. They may owe a good deal of their post-punk revival to our friends across the Atlantic, but this four piece is unmistakably New York. Their rock n’ roll constists largely of anthemic rockers goading you to get moving like Springsteen used to do it in blue jeans. But there’s plenty of downbeat here to chill to as well. ‘Some Things We’ll Never Know’ (from their new record of the same name) bops to the bounce I wish I could still hear from the Strokes these days. But singer Evan de Augustinis has claimed the post-punk revival for his own torch, and it suits Away Aways like the lower east side they’ve claimed for their own. - The Deli Magazine

Aways Away is an awesome alternative rock band with a killer sound that you would be foolish to miss out on. These guys have come from New York, a real pool for great musicians. The band describes their sound like that of The Strokes, Interpol, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and the Pixies. I must say I agree completely. Their fast paced guitar, screamingly emotional lyrics and whiny voices all capture that sound pretty well. The band consists of Evan de Augustinis, Joe Micalizzi, Silvano Dragone, and currently Dana De La Rosa, who replaced original member Mike Lyon. Aways Away sounds great because their music has elements of the punk genre in there but also the finesse and creativity of indie rock and roll.
Their title track song off their album is "Some Things We?ll Never Know," and it has an awesome outro solo and chillingly sweet lyrics that make me beg for more. The song "Word on the Street" has a distinct sound with a glistening lead guitar and a heavy, strong beat from the drums. The lyrics are powerful, fun, and the overall essence of the song draws you in from the beginning. Once the song erupts into an explosion of music, it is hard to stop listening. Aways Away has released their debut album "Some Things We?ll Never Know."
Aways Away has an excellent musical vibe and you should definitely listen to them. Their other songs are "Listerine," "Pages," and "Tribal." I suggest all of them. Check them out here:

It is as though David Bowie, The Cure, and The Clash were tossed into a blender, and the resulting frothy Brundle-fly recorded an album. - Music Emissions

Bio
Inspired by New York City rock and roll, Aways Away was formed by Evan de Augustinis in 2009. It wasn't long before Joe Micalizzi would answer an online ad in search of a lead guitarist. Within a few months the two Jersey boys began writing songs and Evan called his long-time friend Silvano Dragone to come play bass. After consistent gigging in NYC with multiple drummers, Marky Canella soon agreed to play drums over a cappuccino and cannoli.
The bands early influences ranged from the post punk sounds of The Jesus & Mary Chain and Pixies to the garage tones of The Strokes and Interpol. Desiring to have more of what they called a “New York” vibe, they began to investigate the sound of pre-punk bands such as Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground and also artists such as Iggy Pop and David Bowie. Throw in a couple leather jackets, a pair of combs, and a dish of pasta to that mix and you'll find Aways Away.
The bands destiny was sealed after finding Joey Ramone's sneaker in a SoHo basement.
