Bio
Autumn’s Song is a piano-rock/singer songwriter from Lakeland, FL with music that draws from my life experiences. These are songs I have written about what it is like to lose friends, lose girls, get friends, get girls, make enemies, make friends out of enemies, want to be your own person, and find your way through this journey known as life. It’s all about trying to make sense of the past, while dealing with the unknowns of the future. They are placed over a backdrop of the piano which I have been playing since I was a little child and has grown with me through these years. Autumn’s Song is the outlet I pour my heart into, the songs that define me as a person, and my way of sharing what I’ve seen of this world to others.
Autumn’s Song love for music comes from Matt having his head firmly planted in headphones his whole life. Starting with the oldies of from the previous generation of Van Morrison, Billy Joel, the Beatles. Later becoming a fan of 90s alt Rock movement influences how he writes today. He also is a fan of bands and artist that sound different from the rest of the crowd either with instruments such as Dave Matthews Band, or because they just sound different like Ben Folds and Regina Spektor.
He began with piano lesions at the age of seven years old and after learning just enough to get by, quit and taught himself the rest by ear. Playing piano was always to accompany his singing and he began writing his own songs from the age of fourteen. He grew up jamming with his brothers who are now also local artists and musicians.
Later playing in several different bands, the most notable being Scott Morris Band and JuniperRED, he grew disgruntled with the process of songwriting with a band and lead singer. This made him decide to start Autumn's Song and try to do something with its own style.
The result has been the songs that will construct Autumn’s Song’s debut album, “These Old Streets”. These are an intimate telling of life experiences. These are songs about what it is like to lose friends, lose girls, get friends, get girls, make enemies, make friends out of enemies, want to be your own person, and find your way through this journey known as life. It’s all about trying to make sense of the past, while dealing with the unknowns of the future. They are placed over a backdrop of the piano. Autumn’s Song is the outlet that Matt pours his heart into, the songs that define him as a person, and his way of sharing what he has seen of this world to others. The shows consist of intimate telling of these songs as well as the cover songs that I grew up with and has put my own spin on.
