Art Diktator; is an experimental electronic act from Istanbul, founded in 2008 by Hakan Nurcanlı.
He started to work under the monicker ''Art Diktator'' in 1997, as the leader of his previous darkwave/industrial/fetish band Neoplast. While Neoplast disbanded in 2008, in the same period he met Adviye and continued to use ''Art Diktator'' for his new project.
With the dark lyrics, and the high energy as the main characteristics of their music, the duo describe their genre as ‘‘dark energy’’. Along with deep & strong male vocals, and melancholic female backing vocals; 70's old school hand-played basses, 80's drum machines, and 90's techno/trance synths can be typically heard in their music.
They released many limited singles and music videos between 2008 and 2011 before releasing their 6 track EP, ‘’Ultimo Disco Inferno’’ in 2012, which was a new cornerstone for them. The band gained a lot of positive reviews in many magazines, as well as featured a variety of complitation albums worldwide such as Unscene Magazine & Devolution Magazine's covermount cd's, The Gothy Horror Picture Show soundtrack album, Sintuned Records Echoes of the Night Vol I & II sampler cd's, and so on...The band currently working on their new album, which will be released in 2017.
Art Diktator are known for their strong live performances and continuously gig at well known night clubs of Istanbul. They had also played at international festivals in Canada, Finland, Denmark, and Ukraine until now. The duo have recently played at the Canadian Music Week in May 2016.
Besides their music; the band use visuals, drawn by Hakan Nurcanlı and accompanies to band’s live performance which are consist of futurism, individualism, nature, sex, religion, violance, fetishism, bondage, abnormalities, and death.
Art Diktator is not only a band. It's a spiritual and visual movement with a strong attitude. Brief way of self-expression, way of survival...
