Bio
Only one poet had won consecutive National Poetry Slam Titles until Anis Mojgani rewrote history in August of 2006 by being crowned National Poetry Slam Champion in Austin TX, less than a year after in winning the title in Albuquerque, NM.
6 Months later, Anis capped off the most successful 2 year run in modern slam by finishing 2nd at the Individual World Poetry Slam in Vancouver Canada. These historical accomplishments still fall short of truly spelling out Anis impact on performance poetry.
Mojgani is not your typical national poetry slam champion. He possesses
all of the insight and passion one would expect, but very little of the formulaic anger. The playfulness, startling originality, and lyric optimism are all gravy. He's simply the best there is right now.

-4x National Poetry slam Champion
Aniss poetry has been heralded across the globe by veteran poets and masses of audiences as unique, refreshing, uplifting and real. He possess the ability to give hackneyed issues and subject matter a jolt of poetic life and energy, by creating beautifully crafted imagery without writing over the audiences head. Anis writes and performs poetry with the same infectious passion and zeal that he lives life with.
Along with his consecutive National Slam titles, Anis has also been featured on HBOs Def Poetry Jam, and is one of the featured poets in the documentary Slam Planet: War of The Words. Anis has shared the stage with such performers as Jill Scott, HBO Def Poet Beau Sia, DMX, Sage Francis and 2x Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Buddy Wakefield.
This New Orleans native of black and Iranian heritage has come a long way from being the unofficial poet laureate of his alma mater Savannah College of Art & Design, to competing on 3 National Slam Teams, to touring the world as arguably the most accomplished Slam Poet of our generation. Anis unique talent is best summed up by his contemporaries.
Anis Mojgani is the only name that comes to mind when I'm reminded of what spoken word should be, and specifically, where it is headed for the better. Knowing that he is out there performing for the world eases my thoughts, and pushes me to write and perform more, better and effectively. He is a very beautiful person doing beautiful things.

Anis shook the dust off me and everyone else in the audience with the beauty of his words.
