ANIMAL GAMES is announcing the release of their debut EP, NEON WILD, which is available now via the band’s website, www.animalgamesla.com. Listeners can purchase the EP for any price they choose (“name your price”); however, people can visit www.facebook.com/animalgames hit “like” and write “gimme your music!” on their wall and the band will comment back with a free digital download code for the full EP.
This first EP effort was recorded independently by the band across several neglected rooms and garages located in Glendale and Santa Fe Springs, California and reflects the root influences (The Smiths, The Chameleons, Elvis Presley/Scotty Moore, and David Bowie, among others) that generated the project.
ANIMAL GAMES began taking form in late 2007, when long-time ex band mates Juan Pablo Grado (bass) and Frank Tobias (lead guitar) agreed to develop a new project after having exercised practicality for a period of time. The two sought out to achieve a brand of discharge that encompassed no rules and paid tribute to a plethora of influences/sounds; be it the raunchy rhythms of glorious punk bands or the beautiful yet sometimes comical melodies of ambassadors from the 80's, and everything outside and in between. From its inception, the project teased and sometimes tortured itself with several musicians before lining up appropriately. Three years of trial and error have resulted in the implantation of Matt Hansen (drums) and Daniel Gonzalez (keyboards/guitars). After crossing paths with vocalist Chris Buxton-Smith, the group was finalized in the summer of 2010. Since that time, the band has been hard at work expanding their sound, writing, recording, and playing an abundance of shows in and around the Los Angeles area. The band was selected in June of 2011 by Earn It Yourself (EIY) to play the Pomona, California stop of the Vans Warped Tour. Additionally, they were selected by Planet LA records to play an artists and brands showcase at The Mezzanine in San Francisco, CA on August 20.
