Artist Interview - Song Revelation
Angels of Vice is a rock band from San Francisco. Coming from one of the meccas of heavy metal, Angels of Vice are not just another California band. They have what all great rock bands have first, which are hard hitting intense riffs that take the listener into orbit. They then have the second best aspect of a rock band, and that is song construction. The songs stay fluid through out the catalog, and keep the attention of even the most suspicious rock fan. After having a few line up changes this band is now in a full length stride, and using all the tactics to make a great rock band. The vocals are impressive because their clarity, but without holding back the sound. Angels of Vice will take you on a journey with every song meaning they have thought out their song for maximum enjoyment. They have a drummer that controls the transitions seamlessly, a lead bass, and perfectly and independently placed guitar solos. Angels of Vice are a band to turn it up to eleven, with the headphones on. - Paul Ruth, Indepenant Music Scene

"The line up brought us back to front and threw us smiling against the back wall. Openers, The Funky Band's smooth, funkliciousness, got us moving our thangs... Headliners Angels of Vice hit the stage at top speed and didn't ease up til we were all spent. Special guest headliners Spiralarms came at us from all directions and blew us all the #%!* away! Who knew the Bay's own could rock and groove all in the same house?" Photos by Calibree Photography. - SF Weekly

Bio
Angels of Vice is a hard hitting, high-energy juggernaut of a rock band birthed in the San Francisco Bay fog. AOV has been breathing life into the local scene since their inception in 2009 with growing steam and fervor every year. In a very short span they’ve managed to headline and co-headline such notable venues as The Great American Music Hall, The Bottom of the Hill, New Parish, and The Roxy Theater down in Hollywood.
Al Dizon, Mark Raymundo, and Jayson De La Cruz were a tight knit group of musicians from a former band looking for a new sound and heavier presence. They first approached Lisa Mongelli for her thick sounding John Bonham drumming, unlike many other female drummers in her arena. Anthony Nielsen completed the set with his devil-may-care charisma and drive to vocally challenge himself. Once the pieces were in place, there was no stopping their supercharged manic energy.
The most recent achievements of Angels of Vice include a full length album entitled All Good Things and a successful release of their single, We Are The 99. The latter was recorded as an anthem for the current Occupy movement sweeping the world. AOV wants to give a voice to those who are disaffected, disillusioned, and wanting to celebrate life regardless.
Here is the latest press release:
The hard rocking and hard playing members of Angels of Vice have just released their new single “We are the 99”. Recent events in their hometown of Oakland/San Francisco, California inspired their participation with the 99 percent in the occupy movements playing out in their city, across the country, and around the world. Buoyed by the optimism of these fresh ideas AOV felt they wanted to contribute the only way they knew how, through music. A gritty, hard rock anthem, “We are the 99” is the first song from AOV’s eponymous forthcoming album.
AOV brings back the playful but hard-edged grooves and verses of hard rock to our alternative generation. Song Revelation says, “ Angel of Vice’s high octane, commercial sound will leave everyone in a gig wanting more.” Blending AOV’s sound with the idea that the music business mirrors the economic realities of today, AOV found the great inspiration that resulted in “We are the 99”.
AOV is a part of the Bay Area and as such believes they owe their hometown for harboring them. A portion of the proceeds from this single will be used to help small businesses negatively impacted as a result of police and protester actions over the past few months. AOV is in the process of producing a music video for “We are the 99” and setting a release date for their new album and booking an upcoming tour. Please help spread this song and keep the voice of the 99 percent alive.
